The Cardinal Pact, would you sign it?

This is a quote from an online article found while searching for historical backing for a side game i was making here. Would you sell your soul for something you desperately wanted? If you were offered anything you wanted..would you risk the stain upon your soul?

Signing a Cardinal Pact

The Cardinal Pact is the ultimate stamp of evil upon a character. The Cardinal Pact offers the summoned demon the nigromancer's soul in return for a large favour. The soul permanently belongs to the Forces of Evil (though there are stories of saints who step in and save such characters), and as such, the pact can only be completed by a willing signatory, under no physical duress.

Many sign a Cardinal Pact out of fear of death. As a nigromancer ages, the effects of immortilisation through demonkind become less and less effective, and he needs to summon more and more powerful demons for it to work in the first place. The nigromancer starts to feel the effects of his own mortality, and this is when his mind might start to turn towards signing away his soul. Power is the other driving force of a Cardinal Pact. It can, potentially, offer a tremendous power to the signatory - Hell is generous with its gifts, if a soul is at stake.

The gains from a Cardinal Pact can be immense. Naturally, the more powerful the demon with whom the pact is made, the more the nigromancer can get out of the pact. There is often much haggling over the terms, which are often precisely worded to avoid misunderstandings. One of the more obvious effects of the Cardinal Pact is the constant attendance of the demon (or, for the more powerful demons, his representative), as a familiar demon. This demon is treated as if the nigromancer had an unlimited number of commands, but only commands that come under the terms of the Cardinal Pact need be obeyed by the demon.

One immediate effect of the Pact of Ashes is that the nigromancer gains the Tainted with Evil Flaw. This is a result of the stain upon his soul for his evil act.

It derives from Nigro (black) and Mancy (magic) I believe.

Black Magic User.

Edit: And no, I wouldn't sign it. I'm not religious, not to any religion.

I gathered it meant this
This article discusses the practice of Nigromancy (literally, "Black Magic")

But it should be just called black magic then.

And not being religious I don't have a soul to sell, but I may do, I can't prove or disprove it.

[EDIT] The quote was for Andy (Wyatt posted as I posted).

I would so sell my soul to the devil so he could send religious people to hell and then see if God could do something about it. That would be fun...

XD Maybe... but in the point of view of religious people only you and the Lord can see where you'll go. So you pretty much would be giving your soul away for nothing XD

In another point of view, mine, I wouldn't sign this. Because, if there IS in fact a soul, I'd be loosing it stupidly...

And, I'd sign it if I could make this pact:

"You destroy (insert the most hated country) and then, you give me a second soul" So now, he took mine and gave me another XD.

On the serious side, I wouldn't sign it. I never sign any kind of contracts

well since most people are atheist, what could it hurt, just sell your soul since you dont belive in a hell or heaven. Might as well be rich right?

Ok, I'd sign it if they could make me the general of their evil army...and demon wings.

No seriously, I wouldn't since it's something we couldn't get back, just like having AIDS, you are certainly screwed.

Being soul less isn't dying I think... Just that when you die, you have no control of your soul since a devil creature controls it (again, guessing and supossing we have a soul)

I am atheist, but I do not know if I really don't or do have a soul, not worth the risk, plus if an atheist doesn't have a soul, then you wouldn't get rich or anything, because you wouldn't have had anything to sell.

Well, if atheists act as they say, they would sign it, no questions. Because they would think that nothing is gonna happen and they won't lose a thing (ask Penn and Teller, who I have seen walking with bolt catching hats and asking for the lord to frie them)

But if you doubt about it, it means you believe in something, which makes you non atheist.

Assuming that we have a soul, we'd ALL have it, it's not that atheists think they don't, so they don't. It's either all of us or none of us. A matter of believing or not.

But there's no way to dicth or accept that XD

That's my point, because I can't actually prove that souls don't exist I don't really have a say.

So I throw in the may do/may not, that way I don't have to rant at religious people.

I am atheist, but wouldn't sign it because I don't need it. I want to solve problems with the help of myself and the people around me.

Besides, if I do not believe in souls, why would I believe in The Cardinal Pact? I give my autograph for literally nothing. It prefer charging people before I sign things just because they want my autograph. (friends excluded)

Let's see... Sign away with soul for ultimate evil powers and immortality, or stay human and go through reincarnation. I choose reincarnation, a game that you play forever without putting in more credits is no fun.

I don't know. I might. I wouldn't say I'm evil, but I do like wealth and power.

I'm not religious, so I don't really believe in a typical "heaven", although were I to actually see the "devil" I'd probably rethink religion altogether and think better of signing the thing.

If I were to sign this pact, and then suddenly I received a six billion dollar check in the mail, I would be supremely boned, because that would prove I actually had a soul and I sold it. I would then be looking forward to many eons in hell. :(

I wouldn't sign it, just to be safe. When your dealing with some kind of ruthless demon, you should know that the demon has no reason to not just kill you off once it owns your soul because it holds no loyalty.
