03-18-08 The Breeze Revolution has started!
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b347/ ... nTitle.png[/img]
In the summer of 2007 the user Green Raven, a well known spriter, created a multitude of templates, one of which was coined "Breeze". The template was an instant hit. It struck cuteness into games and allowed for a more GameBoy Advance style template seen in the Legend of Zelda series, Pokemon series, and Mana Series.

The chibi-styled template struck the hearts of many to try their luck at spriting, with much success, as the template is easy to sprite on. The template uses more pastel colors as opposed to darker colors seen generally with Half-Kaizer, RTP, and other templates out. The bright saturations is a plus for the template, however details are minimal, being the only draw back of the template.

Many users have decided to create breeze projects, only to trash them due to the lack of resources. That is where The Breeze Revolution plans to change things.

The Breeze Revolution has been put to work to bring forth standard free-use resources for Breeze styled games. T.B.R. Will bring in all resources from Battlers, Facesets, Templates, Tilesets, Sprites, Sprite Bits and Pieces, and Tileset Bits and Pieces, and Palettes.

The Breeze Revolution needs as many artist and spriters as it can obtain. You are our bloodline to make this work, so if you have something to contribute, please do so all the more resources the better our community will be to make a full-fledge Breeze graphics only project/game.

Are you ready to join The Breeze Revolution, then put your creativity to use and hop on board!

Announcements:
The Official Breeze Revolution website is now up and running. It is being hosted off of Axerax's game site which is hosted by RRRevolution. Thanks to them this would not be possible.

If you know of a forum with at least 200+ active members, who may be interested in having this there, let me know in a PM and I will post it as soon as I get a chance.

Past Announcements:

The Breeze Revolution is released! Artists/Spriters are welcome to start contributing, we would like to get as many resources available as possible!

I will continue to update these when time comes, Adepts and Consummates will receive special PM's about updates, events, or planned changes a few days ahead of time to allow opinion voicing.
~Axerax
It has been 2 days since Breeze Revolution has been alive. We are doing quite well and plan to keep it that way!

I, Axerax, have recently published the Breeze Revolution on 3 more sites. I am not going to list them because I don't see the need for everyone except maybe Adepts to know where they are located. They will be PMed the websites personally so they can speak on any issues that may arise on the other sites.

This is a multi-community project and will hopefully continue to grow. Please do not post the material seen on this topic post, ever! PM Axerax and he will personally put it on your forum if you so wish to host it. Please make sure your community is a decent size, a little over 100-300 members is good, anything less than 100 may just not work until the forum grows.

I'll update you guys on any new events soon!
~Axerax

How Files Are Stored
Our Main Gallery Link for all resources is being hosted on Photobucket under a special user account. As well all files submitted are saved on Axerax's computer and on his own FTP Webspace.

The Website and Gallery:

The Breeze Revolution uses a ranking system. The rank you can obtain and hold is determined by the quality and quantity of resources that you contribute and showing improvement where you are told to improve. Providing 20 Decent looking Sprites will get you up there, but on the contrary, providing 20 Decent looking sprites and improving them where problems pointed at are fixed, will get you even further.

We would like all contributors to put their best effort into their spriting for The Breeze Revolution. They will be used in games Commercial and Non-Commercial, so make them look good!

Our ranking system:

The Adepts - Mainly the Founders of The Breeze Revolution, Creator of the Breeze Template, and Outstanding/Masterful Breeze spriters.

The Consummates - These spriters are some of the best of the best when it comes to breeze spriting. Their Quality is superb and the amount of resources they have output has been phenomenal. They are well on their way to becoming an Adept.

The Gifted - These spriters are very skilled and talented when it comes to making Breeze resources, however because of either a lack of quality or quantity is all that is holding them back from becoming a Consummate. With patience, hard work, and dedication they can go up in rank.

The Apt - These spriters are beginners, to the template, they may put out more than their quality is worth, however they are learning and that is the base foundation for Breeze Revolution, to get more people spriting on this template and improving their skill. When enough quality and quantity is output they can begin their climb through the ranks improving their skills over time.

Joining The Breeze Revolutions could not be simpler. Do you have inspiration to create breeze pieces, well that is all it takes. Time, Dedication, and the Will to Improve!

First, post a new topic in the Resource Forum for the specific website forum that Breeze Revolutions is being hosted at that you so choose. In your posts you must make sure to state it is for the Breeze Revolution. This way Breeze Revolution members can critique and comment on the piece before final submission. This is to ensure that you as the contributor is correcting issues and gets a notice for being a mark of work for you as a contributor. If you fail to correct issues and deem the work worthy of being a final copy, you may submit it, but it may be overlooked as unfinished if you don't make an attempt to improve or correct mistakes.

Now, Private Message an "Adept", they are listed above in this post. Posting your submission in this thread will likely have it overlooked and not counted towards your contributions as a spriter for Breeze Revolution!

After your first final submission, you will become an "Apt" from there you will be able to work your way up the ranks dependent upon quality and quantity of material submitted to Breeze Revolution.

Adepts and Consummates will have first shots at hearing new information regarding The Breeze Revolution, including updates, changes, or events. It is an extra perk for doing such a wonderful job with your resources!

Submissions must be on the breeze template male/female on any skin palette. Templates must be provided in a pale skin palette.

For instant notice of your topic being for The Breeze Revolution, please use BR,in brackets, in the topic title and we will check it over immediately as we see it appear.

Final Note, All submissions will be under that said of the Terms of Use. Material found in Breeze Revolution may be edited, recolored, or redistributed at any time, with the correct credit. Do not submit material you want exclusive to your self, as we disallow watermarks or altering to the image to prevent others to edit from the piece. All Breeze Revolution material and free to use as long as rules of the Terms of Use are followed.

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b347/ ... sofuse.png[/img]

Use of Breeze Revolution Materials:
If you use any Breeze Revolution materials to create a sprite, even as slight as a recolor, you are required to credit all current members of the Breeze Revolution Team and Green Raven for the Breeze Template itself, for anything that you do. This applies to use in video games, videos, or in any redistribution of Breeze Revolution material of any format.

Redistribution of Breeze Revolution Materials:
You can redistribute the materials you have created from Breeze Revolutions material. However, you must credit all members of the team and ALWAYS Credit Green Raven for the template itself. If you fail to provide credit, legal penalties will be issued. Using Breeze Revolution material Commercially is permitted, however you must get consent from either Green Raven or Axerax. The Private Message to either must show a link to the game that will feature material, how much it will be sold for in U.S. Dollars, where it will be distributed, and if you plan to give any percentage of gross net profit back to The Breeze Revolution for allowing use of materials. If you are to use material non-commercially, you must simply provide the applicable credit.

Please note commercial use does not require you to provide us any of your profits back for using material, but generosity goes a long way.

Linking Material:
Please do not hotlink images found inside this topic. We have store all works finished or said to be incomplete with specific filenames for redistribution, this is to protect the original spriter's name and provide correct crediting for material.

We take pride in spriters work for Breeze Revolution. We have these terms in place to allow artists the correct crediting so they will continue to provide more material for Breeze Revolution. Take these Terms of use seriously, if you fail to follow any rules listed here, you will have punishments taken into account.

How to use Breeze Revolution Material

Using Breeze Revolution Material is dependent upon what you are going to use.

For completed tilesets or spritesheets, simply right click the image, save as, save (DO NOT CHANGE THE FILE NAME!!*), finally import into where-ever you plan to use the material, and provide the correct crediting for the material.

For Bits and Pieces:
Please follow the same instructions above.

Next open the material with the appropriate template, using GraphicsGale, Paint.NET, Photoshop, Illustrator, or Gimp. Photshop and Illustrator both cost money, and are generally not considered the best choice for spriting, but they will do if you own the programs. Read instructions and tutorials about the programs provided by the website for usage.

Links to Programs:
GraphicsGale: http://www.humanbalance.net/gale/us/index.html
Paint.NET: http://www.getpaint.net/download.html
Photoshop CS3: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/photoshop/
Illustrator CS3: http://www.adobe.com/products/illustrator/
Gimp: http://www.gimp.org/

Now Select All (Ctrl+A) then copy the pieces selected (Ctrl+C). You may also select specific areas using the Marquee Tool or Magic Wand Tool and copy it using the same keyboard command.

Now simply paste the selection(s) onto the template, move them until they are in the positions you want, save the file, preferably a PNG as it support Transparencies, and close the file.

That's all there is to it!

Saving Submission Material

When submitting material, WIP's or final pieces, please follow these guidelines.

Submission Acronyms
SubmissionType: Acronyms
Tileset: Tset
Tileset Bit and Piece: TBit
Spriteset: SSet
Spriteset Bit and Piece: SBit
Battler: Bat
Faceset: FSet
Autotile: TSet or ATSet

When Submitting a Palette, please be sure to give a specific name for the color shades of the palette as a the Material Name.

Example: Axerax-MoonlightBluePal.png

Saving the file with a transparent background and as a PNG will serve as one less of a step for users who wish to edit work, as they will not need to remove the background color and is easier to import with a transparent background.

The reason we save files like this, is to preserve the original creators name, allow us to upload it to the gallery easier, making it more organized. As well it will allow users to search for specific artists work on the gallery.

Important Notice
This is a special notice for those who may find their material as the first of 261 materials gathered from various places. If you wish to remove any work of yours from the Breeze Revolution, simply PM Axerax and it will be removed. All work found is of use as a foundation to start Breeze Revolution, all spriters have been taken into account, their names will appear on the rank system automatically, if you do not wish to be apart of Breeze Revolutions at all, then we will remove your work and name from the ranks upon special request.

Special Credit:
Venetia - I used some guides from the HKCP as a base for setting up Terms of Use, usage of material, and some layout formats you used. Thanks again, and good luck with the HKCP, I support the HKCP as well!
~Axerax

Green Raven - For allowing me to start this. Many have asked me to form it and I finally got around to checking sources, gathering resources, and getting this started. Thanks for the thumbs up to go ahead and I look forward to working with you on this!

Wow those galleries are horrible to go through :\
Clicking on anything twice to get to it is to annoying to go round a second time.
Just select the 'links' format in the top right. It's back to your standard photobucket gallery.

@60.25: I am also going to be looking into using Coppermine, for now to get this all started I will use Photobucket. I can't control how they look. However, I used the grid style because it allowed me the correct link to the content without having to surf through every album to get to a specific one ;)

Give me a few days, I worked on that very section for about 2 hours, uploading and naming all those resources took some time :)

Also what Gratheo said works as well, simply click the standard link format, and then you can manually click through all the albums to get to what you want to see.

Oh I also intended to put in my post that it shows a lot of promise and too keep up the good work.
There were two templates I had not seen, and it is nice to have a place to view the related materials.

Wow, this sounds promising. I hope, for all our sakes, that this goes ahead.
Oh, don't worry, samboy.
I will not allow this to falter. I'm not a deputy-ish guy for nothing!
(I'm not really an 'Adept'. Private work shouldn't really qualify me for this. Then again, I did help set it up a little, but meh.)
Anyways, if anyone has any concerns to do with this, you can also send them to me as well as Ax, since we have different on-times. That should help get things resolved quicker.

I think I'm capable of being a Consummate. If I show some breeze work here will I be able to?

I made this one just now

This is from Gundam 00, Allelujah Haptism, well Allelujah has an evil side named Hallelujah. Hallelujah's hair is facing the other way as shown in the sprite. So this sprite is technically Hallelujah. I noticed I made the hair the wrong way when I was spriting so umm yeah.
I had to state that before I showed the reference.

I hope this is good.

I'm gonna add the badge to my sig, but the gallery links just keep saying I need to install Adobe Flash Player, even though I installed it 5 TIMES! Is there any way you could move to a new gallery? Quickly? Because this looks really good!

I see you already visited my new website "looks at tilesets" but you haven't downloaded the right characters yet.

<a href=http://greensart.exnw.com/cutenews/data/upimages/breezecharacters.rar>download characters </a>

I will upload them tonight, I think I downloaded your current RTP I just haven't gotten around to naming and uploading yet, I will do that tonight and answer some questions then, until then I need to go to work :)

You're on your way, however. Like stated at the top for most pieces to receive the necessary C&C you must post a new topic with the BR in the title for us to evaluate it. If you want to sprite a whole slew of Gundam 00 series character that can quite suffice for material to be added, just keep up the good work and you will get there in no time. I will add you to our Apt list for now and then as I see progression for ranking, we will move on from there. Sound good?

HOLY HELL. Its started! Wow, Axe, you've done a great job with this. My eyes are watering. This could actually stand up to Venetia's HKCP. (Not that we don't love you, Vene ... It's just business) Great start ... I look forward to working full steam ahead with this!

Oh, By-The-Way, PM, me ... I might have a website to host the pictures and stuff ...

Edit #2: Then again if your using coppermine ... go ahead.

Well I'm happy the forum is getting a creative boost. This isn't a competition ... If someone prefers the HK style, go with HK. If someone prefers Breeze, now here's a choice. They're two extremely different styles (HK works for more serious RPG's, Breeze works for lighter, more classic RPG's), so it's better to have variety anyway :).

That's not necessarily true ... My breeze game will have humor but it's mostly Horror/Sci-fi/Action/Adventure ... It just depends on what kind of game will be made and what type of style you're going for. I'll be going for colorful, descriptive, cartoony horror :)

Edit: I'm also sure that if Despain got hit in his head (Hard) and he decided to use the breeze template ... With that Sandy palette of his, He could make it look serious ...

Venetia, I love you, you hit my thoughts right on the head of the nail. That is one other reason this was created, choice.

However, Kailis is a serious game, it has humorous parts and serious parts, while some may be calm and peaceful. The games atmosphere and emotions will be played out more through the artwork for dialog more than the game graphics. The graphics style works better with an ABS style because it can be classified as "Fantasy Violence" which can, but doesn't need to incorporate blood into the mix, it also allows for more colorful attacks and feel to the game as the color scheme can vary from a cool blue midnight with a slow breeze, to a glistening sunrise on a white sandy beach.

@Clizzz: Yep, took me about 3-4 days to fully get everything in check. If your website can provide a nice thumbnail gallery for the images with a breeze styled background, gradients work perfectly, then i will give you a try, more places the work is stored and backed up the easier it will be to retrieve material if it has been lost on other sites or areas.

@Rikuken: Sounds great to me, more power to you, I look forward to seeing your submissions.

@Larynni: I promise you'll get better. The more you sprite, the more creative you will get and experienced with basics, we're gonna be helping you every step of the way that we possibly can!

I wouldn't say that. I'd probably use the Breeze over HK for a more serious game, for some... reason... :S
