"The Boss" Music Video - First Post

I like the composition a lot. The beginning is a little choppy, but I see what you were going for. The actual instrumentation is a little off, though. The soundfont that you chose seems to not be geared for fast tempos, and it sounds a bit jumbled. Maybe consider looking for something with a little more attack.

Thx for the feedback! Glad to hear you like the song. Do you have any (preferably inexpensive) soundfonts that you personally would recommend? I have been eyeing something called "Vienna Symphonic Library" but I'm still not sure the best choice to make for the type of music I do(symphonic/film-ish)...

thx again holk

Check out homemusician.net and hammersound.net. Those two sites have tons of great free soundfonts. Most are .sf2 in a .zip, but some are .sfark, so you'll need the appropriate program to open them. I hope you'll understand if I don't tell you the specific ones that I use.

man after my own heart <3

cool tunes tho. i'm liking the transition from 8bit to orchestral. that was insanely cool dude. I was NOT expecting that! i dare say, genius. the actual composition was top notch too, would make a magnificent title screen.
8bit to orchestral. new to me. :dead:

thx, i really appreciate that cruelty. i feel that a lot of it was luck tho...sighs*...but i'm working on my consistency, and hopefully soon i'll be in the industry

and i just came across the greatness of hammersound.net

Sweetness! :thumb:

I thought the opening was ok, but a little repetitive and it started to bug me. The tempo staggered a bit. However, the lead into the symphonic sounds SURPRISED ME. Like, holy shit dude. This is pretty cool stuff. The percussion is kind of off, however. Towards the end with the electic sounds is too hectic and kind of made me scruff my face.

Pretty cool little tune though, in most spots. The end seems a bit too abrupt; A gong ending kind of kills the rising development of the tune. It gets pretty epic towards the end but goes a little TOO OVERBOARD imo.

Love to hear more, dude.

i really like the use of chip and symphonic together, i think you pulled that off wonderfully.

and while i agree with what C€ЯổžỞ said about the end sounding too hectic, i think its just a volume thing, try toning down the electric lead a bit. other than that i dont really have anything to add.

and i would use the word epic to describe this song, well done

That transition was epic bad ass, and the song itself is very well crafted. An endless stream of harmony. You tease us with its shortness of length.

Wow, I REALLY appreaciate all this feedback!! like seriously, i've really been looking for a long time to find ppl who would listen to my stuffs and constructively criticize it

gulch666, i will definitely check out your work

shizu, thx! i hope that as i mature as a musician my songs will get longer, a lot of times i feel like i just drain myself over a few minutes of music...sighs*

C€ЯổžỞ, will also take your thoughts into mind as well. i appreciate everything u guys said, shows me spots in my writing i shud focus on a lil more

i tend to write shorter songs myself, i think its because i have a tendency to write shorter leads, typically do like 4 measure parts and then i dont like to loop them, been trying to move to doing like 8 measure parts to get a little more length out of my songs

Wonderful! I love the transition into "real" sounds, very well done.

If I had any critisism, it would be that you could have tried ecperimenting with some more layers or thematic ideas. Its pretty much the same idea and texture all the way through. But having said that, it is still perfectly captivating.

good job.
