What is the Beginner's Lounge?
Consider it a safe haven for newbies if you will; the Beginner's Lounge is a new venture for the site providing a space for new users of any game making software to have a place to chill, find support, post their very first projects for pointers and help, free from the perhaps harsher critique and requirements of the more adeptly aimed parts of the site.
The idea came up a while back and to be honest it should have been here sooner, but it's here now, so enjoy!
So what do we do?
We'll see how it all turns out. At the moment there are a couple of tutorials, some more may be moved from the RMXP/RMVX Tutorials board if deemed necessary. There's a copy of the FAQ which will shortly be rewritten and reorganised.
Check the rules of the boards to see what you should be doing.
Top level (The Beginner's Lounge)
Discuss game making in general from a beginner's perspective, and ask for any support needed. How do I start the program? What is scripting? Remember to check the FAQ, it may actually be useful, but don't be ashamed of asking the simplest of questions, we all had to start somewhere.
First Projects
This board is aimed at those who want to make a project to learn to use a game making software. It doesn't have to be your first, that's just a name; it's supposedly your first attempt at actually learning what goes on in a game and wanting to improve on your systems, basic eventing, and so on which really are important things to get to know.
Beginner's Tutorials
Hopefully this section will fill up with a range of suitable tutorials.
Can I moderate the new forum?
As with anything, we'll look to see who is most active in a positive way; who actually has the skills required and who wants the job for more than just glory. It's probably best not to go around asking people if you can become a moderator.
How will we know if it's successful?
As with everything, if every other site in the world starts doing this after us then it's a success. :thumb:
