Techno music

What's everyone's thoughts on techno music?

I personally love the stuff. Mainly Paul Oakenfold and Andy Hunter, but I have found a couple of people/groups that have made one or two pieces I like.

And I think the future holds only good for Techno. With clasical music starting to die out and be replaced by the horrid rap/hip-hop, techno could easily fill the growing gap for instrumental music. It's modern, stylish, and it's so flexable. Soft, hard, fast, slow, it fits all types of tastes in music.

My personal playlist of techno:

Ready Steady Go (Paul Oakenfold)
Disco Science (Mirwais)
Bullit (Paul Oakenfold, Perfecto)

who doesn't love techno?! I ADORE TECHNO!!!

But then again, I also love classical (I can never resist Rachmaninov) and hip-hop (Ne-yo)... I'm in a win-win situation either way!

There's so much good techno out there, BT, Tiesto, Infiniti (a.k.a. Juan Atkins), Lords of Acid, Massive Attack, Royksopp (kinda techno- listen to "Only this moment"), Steve Porter, Shpongle and the list just goes on and on...

BT and DJ Tiesto - Dreaming

that has to be one of the best techno chill tracks ever... "No words... no pain... only dreeeeaming..." bam. 10/10

it depends on what you mean by TECHNO(i'm assuming you mean electronica as a whole, rather than just DOOF DOOF 4 2DA FLOOR house). i'm a pretty big fan of ambience and i'm actually starting to get into noise (primarily because i am a pompous ass when it comes to music and thoroughly enjoy listening to static, record scratches, and droning guitar feedback for half an hour and longer), but i am not so big a fan of FEEL THE BASS LET IT MOVE YOUR SOUL DOOF DOOF DOOF DOOF trance/house etc.

I'm more of a fan of the stuff that sounds like something from the Matrix Lobby Shootout, ultra-fast and basicly action-packed. I also enjoy modern orchistral, and some electric orchistral. So when I say techno, I mean basicly every type of electronica.

Although the faster, the better.

depends on my mood really, of course. it's like some techno's for rough sex and some for gentle. yeah. like that -_-

edit: oops, and in response to the couch thing, from what breen said, it wasn't house, it was more like conventional techno. House isn't the best if you're not gonna dance to it, so you need to listen to House while in a club or something.

Yep.

I like The Flashbulb, m1dy for some speedcore, DJ Sharpnel because his stuff makes me laugh, Onoken because it sounds cool, and Interrupt Vector.

Ehh... Depends...

When I think techno I think the same beats and measures played over and over again with little to no variance blasting from my roomates computer down the hall while he's raiding in WoW. I do enjoy some techno songs, if they are techno. I like that dreaming song by Frou Frou, and everything by Gorillaz, Dangermouse and the guy behind the first Gorillaz album and Gnarls Barkley, but I'm not sure if that's techno or electronica, or if electronica is techno.

Techno can be alright for background music, but I could never sit down and listen to it. I need singing, lyrics, and dynamic composition, not sound sampling over drum n' bass, cut, spliced, and played over and over and over again for an hour until the dj/rave guy changes up the beat to include and extra half-note and chord shift.

I think you're mistaking it with modern mainstream rap.
Listen to some Flashbulb. :p
