For those who dont know, Tatsunoko vs Capcom is the next in the Capcom Vs. series. Its been in Japan arcades for about a year now, and has been in the wii production for quite some time, and looks very promising.

Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tatsunoko_vs_Capcom

If youre familiar with Marvel vs Capcom then this shouldnt be all that new to you. If not, then basically this game is an advanced fighter (not like Street Fighter but similar). Players select from a roster of characters from Tatsunoko, who is famous for their anime characters, or Capcom, which is famous for SF, Resident Evil, megaman, etc.

This game, however, is a HUGE departure from the other Vs and capcom fighters. Instead of a usual 6 button fight scheme (3 kicks and 3 punches) players have 3 FUCKING BUTTONS (Weak, Medium and Strong). Im not sure how well this will play out on the wii but the gameplay has been solid (I have the Dolphin version, and its not too bad)

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom does not have the more complex attack systems like in the Street Fighter series and some previous Versus fighting titles. The game uses a simplified three-button attack system with the option for a more simplified control scheme since it was developed with the Wii in mind. The three attack buttons are listed as "Weak", "Medium" and "Strong".

Also, the battle style has been simplified to 2v2 instead of the traditional 3v3. Players switch off characters as main and assist, making the clutter between characters and battle matches much shorter. Also, air combos have been MEGA simplified as well, making the transition into Super Moves easier to pull off. Only two characters in the game fight without a partner though (WHAT? FUCK YOU THIS ISNT CAPCOM VS SNK.)

So far, Ive enjoyed the arcade version (not many characters though :<) but the wii version will prove to be fantastic. Characters such as Zero (MMX), Frank West (Dead Rising) and Viewtiful Joe are finally awesome to see in a fighting game.

Overall, its no MvC 3 (FUCK YOU CAPCOM FUCK YOUUUUU), but if you were turned off by MvC then this game might be for you if you are looking for a REAL fighting game on the Wii (Brawl doesnt count EVER)

But yeah, what do you guys think? I got mine reserved along with a wii fight stick (which actually isnt really necessary for this since its ONLY 3 BUTTONS) on the Jan 26th when it launches in NA (FUCK YOU JAPAN WE GET IT FIRST.)

looks cool, man. I'm gonna ask the obvious question and go "who the hell are these Tatsunoko guys" but that aside it sounds worthwhile at least. I've never really gotten into vs fighting games (i.e. non-SSB) but I guess I should eventually.

I didnt know too much either :x Basically they are an old school anime company, all I know that theyve made is Gatchaman (which is badass)

If you are good at brawl then youll be just as good at this (since the controls are super simplifed), but it kind of makes combos too easy to pull off. The problem is good timing, and that just takes practice.

Also FREE ONLINE thanks nintendo, I was kind of tired of playing laggy ass brawl so now we can play some other stuffs d:eek:

Wii version looks awesome though, the roster is just a little weak as compared to other Capcom vs. games.

Awesome Bro

Well it looks good, and since I've pretty much skullfucked the living daylight out of MvC2 (It didn't help with the PSN/XBL release too... that made the addiction worse !)

The only thing that looks weird and good at the same time, is the 3D characters as opposed to sprites, although some do look good, others look meh, and I especially love Frank West in it haha...

man I would have loved to see phoenix wright in a fighting game

would he, like, bash people with a Thinker clock or something?

@jbrist: yeah i agree mvc is getting pretty old imo but the sprites in tvc are awkward but you get used to them because the speed is essentially the same

@miek: hmm, idk, they said originally he was gonna use normal melee attacks or something :x

yeah the roster is shit, but you gotta remember this is a lol wii gamm, and fighters on wii suck DICK so basically this will pretty much be the breakout game in its genre.

I used to pray at night wishing the same thing, but alas.

FYI,

Tatsunoko's an animation studio responsible for shows like Gatchaman, Yatterman, Samurai Pizza Cats and Karas. I honestly don't remember any work of theirs other than Gatchaman and Samurai Pizza Cats, which is so old I remember watching it when I was nine.

Apparently, they did have a hand in producing Evangelion, Speed Racer, and Robotech (Yes, Robotech) as well. I kinda wish they put those on the cast as well considering they're more prominent internationally.

Anyway, I managed to get my hands on an import sometime back and played it on my Wii. Since it was in Japanese, I couldn't really look into the other stuff like unlockables and other content, but I managed to play through arcade mode at least. When they said they'd water down gameplay, they meant it. Super moves could be done easily by just pressing B and tilting your joystick. You can pull 10-hit aerial combos just by bashing A. As pointed out previously, it's like a faster Smash Brothers on everyone's favorite setting (FINAL DESTINATION NO ITAMZ), so don't expect it to be anywhere near the older Capcom Vs titles.

I love how every character has an animated sequence at the end. I dunno, with all the threedees it feels like it's been ages since I've seen a game use anime cutscenes.

The Tatsunoko ones are the guys behind the epic 1979 Casshern anime (that had a 2004 movie; and a recent reboot as Casshern Sins). I may not have a Wii but I'd like to play as MegaMan Trigger and Saki Omokane.

However, there's an "imba" chara and it's from a Capcom game Lost Planet.

The Golbot on the Tatsunoko side played kinda the same. It's just a matter of outmanuevering them, really. At least in arcade mode anyway.

Yeah so im playing this a little more and im gonna eat my words when I said to hype this game.

Sabao kind of beat me to it; it looks nice but its pretty much a watered down brawl with an even easier control scheme than MvC. Combos are too easy to pull off and get boring after awhile. Plus the overall roster is shit and they clearly gave more thought to the Tat characters.

Its not AWFUL at all, its worth getting but I suggest torrenting it or renting, dont buy. Its a very degenerate Marvel Vs Capcom (The first, not the second)

If youve never played a MvC game or a fighting game that requires Turbo (Vampire Savior, Garou) then buy. If not, rent.
