Tamriel's Song: Happiness in Misery

"The boy will grow to be widely hated.... yet, widely loved."

"Wh-what exactly do you mean, sire?"

"I mean just what I say... When you are gone, he surely will not be entirely on his own, but only when he finds happiness in misery will he feel truly loved....

About

Tamriel's Song: Happiness in Misery is a drama/fantasy/comedy/medieval epic whose story has been in development for over two years now. With an atmosphere worked on with great care and a story unlike any other, one may find the experience different and hopefully captivating.

Story

After 14 years, Tamriel Onlai has never known what it was like to have a real family; the warmth of a mother, the inspiration from a father, and the fun of having siblings. The only family Tamriel has ever had was the wise, old sorcerer known only as Sarilit. Sarilit raised Tamriel from the death of his family and made him his apprentice, teaching Tamriel how to perform sorcery, as well as some side harp lessons. Even with someone like Sarilit, Tamriel feels a dark emptyness inside that will not seem to go away. Deciding that he will never be happy until he finds out the truth of his parents' death, which Sarilit refuses to speak of, Tamriel sets off on a journey to his family's homeland to find out his horrifying, deep past...

Protagonists/ Antagonists

Tamriel Onlai
Age: 17
Tamriel's parents died when he was only three years old, being passed on to the care of a wise, old sorcerer named Sarilit. Intuitive, humurous, and hyper-active, Tamriel has a very teachable spirit and is always wanting to learn something new. Although he may seem like a very happy person on the outside, deep down inside there is a dark emptyness as if there is a missing piece in a jigsaw puzzle. After dreaming of his parents, though he never knew what they looked like, Tamriel decides that the cause of his emptyness is the unawareness of the cause of his parents' deaths. He decides to set off for Relneva, his parents' great homeland, to find the truth about his past.

Stumph
Age: 22
Stumph is the farmer of his and Tamriel's village, Elrind. Being one of the only friends Tamriel has, he can understand the latter well and has deep connections with him, though they seem like opposite people. Stumph is a somewhat stoic, hard-working, morbid type of person, though he undoubtedly has a soft spot for Tamriel. After finding out that Tamriel had decided to set off for Relneva, Stumph insists on joining him because he fears Tamriel will "do something ignorant and get hurt."

Amos
Age: 14
Amos is a young, nomadic orphan with great skill in scimitar comabat. Hailing from Khen Adya, a desert land, Amos encounters Tamriel during the latter's short stay at a riverside inn, where Amos was lurking in the storage room scavenging for scraps of bread.

Sarilit
Age: 132
Sarilit, being somewhat of an original clone of Tamriel, has all of Tamriel's personality traits. However, he is much wiser and has "been around the block a few times." He is the sorcerer who has raised Tamriel from an early age, and joins Tamriel on his journey to Relneva to provide advice and hints.

"Tamriel's Song is heavily inspired by Quintessence: The Blighted Venom, Harry Potter, And The Lord of the Rings." - And possibly The Elder Scrolls =P

I'm always intrigued when I see a game described with a perfect understanding of grammar and the English language. I'm sure that will carry over to the dialogue, and in my opinion, that's the make-or-break element of a game. It's the reason Vagrant Story is my favourite video game, and it's the reason i'll be keeping an eye on this project.

For an introduction this is very impressive!

Thank you! Yes, I believe playing a game is like watching a movie or reading a book, so I do my best to make the dialogue as accurate and well-written as possible. You see, I wrote a novel of this 2 years ago, (when I was eleven) :P and I thought about it a couple of weeks ago when I decided to make a game of it! ^_^ I've had a lot of progress already, so it shouldn't be more than about a month and a half before a demo is released. And about the Elder Scrolls, I've never played that game. But I have heard of it, and it sounds like a pretty good one.

Doesn't anyone else have anything to say? Come on, I need CRITICISM! Story suggestions, mapping, characters, anything! ^_^ That's what I posted here for!

It seems alright. However, having Tamriel in your title might not be smart. Another guy on here had plans to make an Elder Scrolls game called TES: Tamriel, and he got flak from Bethesda. Just a suggestion.

It seems alright would also be what I say. It's hard to say much else based on the information available. It all seem related to Tamriel's journey. There's nothing that hints there anything more going on and neither is there anything portraying the journey as interesting. While I can see how the journey is important for Tamriel, there has to be a reason why the player should care and I haven't found any.

On the other hand, I haven't seen anything that gets my "warning, bad idea" alarm going.

Yeah, but he got flak for using The Elder Scrolls in the name, not for the name Tamriel, since it doesn't relate to Bethesda in any way, so using it'll be fine.
