Sweet Lily Dreams released!

Material from this game has been receiving some pretty good feedback in the Screenshots Thread for a while now, so I thought: why not make a project topic? Well, here it is. ^^

Dream creature Faith sets out to prove herself by erasing a dark new dream world that draws from stories such as Doctor Jekyll and Dracula, but begins to question her righteousness.

Everyone dreams. And in those dreams, everyone is connected.

snip051.png

In the city between realities, the guardians of the dream world protect the balance between good and nightmare. Faith is one of them, though her clumsiness leads to dangerous situations.

She is sent out to the dream of a little girl named Lily, but fails the mission yet again. Lily follows her back to the guardians' city, where Faith is suspended from duty.

News reaches the guardians that a wicked dream world has appeared that threatens the balance, one composed of classic stories such as Doctor Jekyll, Dracula and Baba Yaga. Faith sees it as an opportunity to prove her worth again. Along with Lily and two other dream creatures, they secretly set out.

But while on their quest, the guardians begin to question their actions. Do they have the right to invade other people's dreams and erase their darkest imaginations? What makes light better than darkness?

The monsters we should fear are not the ones in our dreams, but the ones that live inside of us.

And sometimes, they win.

Man, I am loving the custom graphics in this one. This looks like a good example of an original 2D RPG Maker game. Definitely gonna watch this.

Thanks, guys! :)

Am I planning to do what the same? Give it bad beta-testing? Oh, no, no, no. I've got an army of testers from Over Cloud and Amaranthia this time, you have my word on that.

Little update:
Website updated and social media added.
You can now follow me/us on Twitter as well as Facebook!

(Not sure I'm allowed to link on here, though. If not, just let me know and I'll remove it. :))

i've never liked your artstyle in the past dude, laregely because i'm a pixel purist (really for no reason i'm just an elitist asshole) and this stuff has always looked parinterly or whatever.

BUT seeing it all together, man, this looks fucking awesome. it looks really great with all the pieces put together. i mean there's lots of little stylistic things that i disagree with but as a whole this looks fucking beautiful.

my favorite part is that everything seems so creative and original. all these characters are made completely for THEMSELVES and not on some bullshit template. that's something i';ve been doing a lot myself lately and the results are always incredible. AWESOME job with the unique character design bro. and all of your concepts have that element of "whatever the fuck i want" fantasy rather than like FANTASYfantasy so fuck yeah dude this is the shit.

i'd love to check out your demos and stuff maybe i will if i ever get the chance because dude you fucking deserve it. i remember seeing the shit for your other game for YEARS and now i see it's a finished game that's actually selling and that's spectacular.

you rock dude. keep doing what you're doing.

also i like that your character is a wolf/pony thing or w/e. not on a personal level i think the whole animal character thing is pretty stupid. but it's genius because that kind of shit will SERIOUSLY SELL. that kind of stuff is huge with internet people. you know how to read the market man so awesome.

ALSO:
do your games use the mouse? a friend told me that commercial games need to be playable via mouse to be sold on most portal sites. this kind of stuff i'm starting to get really interested in because these days my projects are geared toward the commercial market.

@lucht pecht/Despain(?): Thanks! That means a lot coming from you. :) The game does indeed use a mouse, as commercial RPG Maker games should, like you said. But you can just as easily use the keyboard. The game has a really smooth interface, and there's even a scroll bar for the mouse (which is a first in RPG Maker as far as I know). Have you looked into selling one of your games?

About Faith: No, I did not make her with cheap bucks in mind. However, I started out the game with the thought 'What would be most well received among the casual gamers from Amaranthia, etc.?'. I ended up creating a lot of cuteness (including Faith!), customization, a smooth interface and a lot of puzzles and exploration. Basically I wanted to combine the RPG and ever-so-popular Hidden Object genres for something refreshing. ^^

anything i make seriously from this point on will be for profit and the current (and hopefully final) version for sandfall is being made to be sold. is your mouse script released publicly, or would you be able to share? there's a really sweet one for RMVX but i really cannot stand RMVX's mapping system because i'm all about creating my own graphics: something you definitely know about.

yeah man that's exactly what i mean. knowing your audience and keeping them in mind.

and that's what's gonna make things difficult because i normally don;t like the whole casual cutesy stuff but that's who buys rm games. i'm glad that you managed to find success in this niche; your art style is great for it.

It is a heavily (read: veeeery heavily) edited version of Amanda's Mouse Script. You can get it here. :)

Yeah, I guess that must be difficult then. x3 Maybe you have a mother or sister to bug about? Haha.

Aaand here's a new little video: Preview #4! New things shown: picking up coins, running into an enemy and tutorial messages. Nothing major, but Brian Coffi -- one of the composers -- requested I make a battle video featuring one of his tracks. :)

Meanwhile I'm working on an actual trailer for the game with Sony Vegas Pro. It's gonna be great!

I know, right. o.o I just don't know at all what kind of SEs I should be using? To be honest I never pay attention to those things in other RPGs...

Sorry for the late update -- I was in London for a couple of days and have been busy wrapping things up. Alpha testing has begun today, so the beta and finished versions are not far away! :)

Meanwhile, here's an exclusive new screenshot:
