Super Smash Bros. Series: What do the FANS want?

Hello! I'm Rey_J. Rey means King in Spanish. J looks very much like a Japanese symbol that, when put 3 in a row, spells Dedede. Who am I? King Dedede, fat and greedy, eats a lot...

Wait, that's not why you're here...! My bad.

A good friend of mine says he knows this guy whose dad knows this guy who knows this guy who worked on Super Smash Bros. (He didn't specify if it was just Brawl, or the other two as well), and this guy tells the first guy's dad who told the first guy who told my friend who told me they're working on a 4th SSB, name not yet confirmed. (If you have any info on the alleged SSB4, please share! And don't lie to me!)

Anyway, what I see and hear all the time--people want a new, better Super Smash Bros. that doesn't disappoint like Brawl did. Now, I'm not saying Brawl was a bad game or that that's everyone's opinion, but it wasn't all they cracked it up to be on www.smashbros.com. Now, this is not the Smash Bros. Character who-do-you-want discussion!
http://www.rmxp.org/forums/index.php?topic=50776.0
This is close, though. It's the Super Smash Bros. what-features-stages-music-etc-do-you-want-and-what-was-in-existing-games-that's-not-necessary topic!
Discuss:
New features
New stages
New items
New songs
Old features/stages/songs/items that have to go
Improvements on existing f/s/s/i they should really have
Just plain ideas for the Smash Bros. franchise

1) Personally, I say what they've lacked (forgotten or specifically excluded, for what reason whatsoever?) is a Pokeball Switch. They have an item switch, but that only switchs in/out Pokeballs and now, Assist Trophies. If we can select what we want, that could make it a bit more bearable for some people... the only exception is Legendary Pokemon that give you goodies and notices. E.g., Groudon and Kyogre can be switched, but Celebi and Mew can't. Also, you get the option of turning them off (although, why would you want to do that?) but not exclusively on, either.

2) They need more bosses, and to make them fightable without having to trudge through Adventure Mode. I had this idea, on a possible stage called Milky Way, a big, spacey stage inspired from Kirby Superstar that's similar to the F-Zero stages in Melee/Brawl, if you met certain conditions when fighting one another, Marx would appear once the match was over, and the top 2 players would begin a fight with Marx (who obviously has some tricked-out new moves since KSS). The BGM would be the Vs. Marx song from Brawl, and if you beat him, you get his song and, possibly, his trophy--and of course the ability to fight him in a stadium once you trounce many more bosses...

3) Customizable trophy poses and more freedom in the Trophy Hoard Diorama mode (e.g. rotate on all axises, adjust height, more b.g.s). It gets super boring when Wario is always going "WAH!" or Kirby is stuck in a midair spin... you get what I'm saying, right?

Now, let's hear what YOU say...!!!

smashbros.com did NOT hype up smash bros. all they did was divulge bits of information about it. the fans where 100% of the hype.

Hmm... you do have a point there. My argument against your theory is that they had said a couple of things and timed it just so that it seemed like we were getting more companies' characters, though in reality we were only getting Snake & Sonic, plus we already knew about that... Now, anybody want to add to the ideas...?

Of course there's going to be an SSB4. Is there going to be any development info at this point, when Brawl has hardly had time to cool? I doubt it. Remember, it took them this long to get from Melee to Brawl, so I think that you should hold onto your hat for at least another four or five years, or the next console release.

I started a topic, and people are responding! GOOD
People are getting off-topic by responding to a lesser topic STILL GOOD, BUT WAIT, WHAT?

Okay... info on SSB4 is irrational anyway, just my curiosity... I mean, I knew that!

Continuing, Boss Battles mode requires you to
trudge through Adventure Mode
before you can get to it! But if you were referring to the stadium Marx would be in, then most likely, but I was almost hoping for something with a little more... I don't know... pizazz.

Eheh... pizazz in Boss Battles? What was I thinking?

Speaking of thinking... Features, stages, items, songs?

Here's one for ya: Shadow Temple
from Zelda 5: Oc' o' Time. Think about it (if you've played before): That one large room sort of in the middle of the level, the one that looks very much like a cave. It has brick flooring on cave walls, invisible brick platforms, a large cement platform that goes up and down... if it sounds like Mario, wait until you hear this! The guillotines! (If you don't know what a guillotine is, it's a large mounted scythe-type device made to cut off people's heads) They fall, damaging the player and acting as a thin wall otherwise... also, there are Traps (spiked disks that slide along the ground independently) and the chain-sliding invisible platform, which is now visible. Possibly, no death along top border of screen (only in the valley of the dead!!).

They need more tech in the new one. Brawl was a baby fed version of Melee made for those people who didn't know how to play or wanted a chance to win. Any form of technical skill brought back into the series.

I'm sorry... Technical skill? What are you talking about? (BTW, I'm not a hardcore player, I'm more casual)

I am a hardcore player. I usually don't play a game unless I can get hardcore about it or it has a good storyline. What I mean by tech is wavedashing, teching, L-cancels. None of that is in there. Well teching is kinda in there but its dumbed down and impossible to do on the wall. Look up wavedashing and L-canceling on youtube to see what I'm talking about.

indeed. brawl isn't as good as melee for the serious players. i RARELY used to do wavedashing, and it was only when it actually wasn't necessary just to try it. i wasn't good at it :p
i L-canceled tho.

brawl is really only good if you're really just having fun. i mean, if im playing my friend, which we're pretty much 100% even on a skill level, and we get competitive, we'll have to stop playing brawl, and break out the melee because it's a better test of actual skill. @__@

brawl is awesome for non-competitive play. even with all the idiotic items turned off, it still feels like its missing something. i think if they decide to make another smash bros, they should try to make it more about serious gaming. fighting games are probably the most competitive games there are.

L-cancelling and wavedashing were glitches, ye ken? People didn't complain about "baby-fed gameplay" when Mario Kart Wii got rid of the horrendous amount of snaking in MKDS.

Me, I wanna see Balrog from Cave Story in Brawl. It's mostly impossible (especially considering that Studio Pixel has now had a couple dealing with not Nintendo but Sony,) so it's just a pipe dream.

Seriously, though, he seems made for Brawl, and I've been thinking about possile movesets. For one, the up B attack, Seeker Missile. He rushes into the air and fires a single missile. Press B with good timing after that and he can shoot up to five, with the proviso that each one knocks him backwards a little in midair.

Like I've said, it's pretty much impossible, but I like to play with the idea.

wave dashing and L-canceling were in the japanese instruction manual for melee. It wasnt a glitch. Mario kart is a whole other subject. Haha.

The JAPANESE manual!?!?!?
My gosh. OH           my gosh.
The Japanese manual.
How many MORE great things will they NOT translate for us!?!?!? :dead:
WTFWTFWTFWTFWTFWTF... :pissed:

Ahem! Excuse my language there... one thing I hated in Brawl was crediting/honoring different games. Here's what I mean:

Golden Sun: 2 games.
Electroplankton: 1 game.

Golden Sun: 1 assist trophy, 1 trophy to match, no stickers, and 1 song.
Electroplankton: 1 stage, no song, no trophies, 3 stickers, a symbol.

WTFWTFWTFWTFWTFWTFWTFWTFWTFWTFWTFWTFWTFWTFWTFWTFWTFWTFWTFWTFWTFWTFWTFWTF!!!
WTF MAN!!!

They seriously hurt me and GS there. To not give a symbol is like to wave it off like it doesn't deserve to exist. Personally, never played EP, but I own, played, beat, seriously loved GS 1 & 2. One of my all-time faves. THEN there's THIS. More to add on the "Brawl's Disappointments" list.

IT'S NOT THAT HARD!!! TITLE=ELEKTROPLANKTON. SYMBOL=AN ELECTROPLANKTON.
Easy, right?
TITLE=GOLDEN SUN. SYMBOL="Gee, what do we make for a symbol for this, I wonder? Electroplanton's was an Electroplancton... So, Golden Sun's should be...! I'm tired! I wanna go to bed! I guess I'll just wave it off until after the release... (game is released everywhere by now) Oh my gosh! No project=no edits! Oh well, guess I'll never make one. Bwahahahahaa..."
WRONG F***IN' ANSWER!!!
Here's the correct answer.
TITLE=GOLDEN SUN. SYMBOL=THE GOLDEN SUN.
It's basically a symetrical circle with 8 spikes going ^, v, <, >, and the in-betweens. The 8 directions you could move in the game. Or basically a sun for a symbol. The shining beacon of hope...

Wait, why am I the only one presenting ideas for non-hardcore's? When I said "Features" in the 1st post, I didn't mean stuff like that... I don't even know what wavedash and all those others are! Although, this "teching" sounds like another mentioned feature on the Dojo, the Ukemi. http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/howto/te ... que10.html
By "Features" I mean stuff like "Stage Builder" (which was a rip-off, but we already knew that thanks to the dojo ) and "Chronicle" (which is the dumbest feature IMO.)

Any ideas... now? Okay... now? Alright, NOW, I know you've got ideas! Post them please!!

I heard this idea from somewhere (forget where, probably somewhere on the Starmen.net forums) and it was someone's stage idea. The stage was that you'd start on a bus in Eagleland (Earthbound) and you'd basically fight on top of the bus as it took you around the various locations in Earthbound, such as Fourside and the Dusty Dunes desert. Also, the Runaway Five bus would pop in every once in a while, as well as the Sky Runner. It's a pretty neat idea for a stage, IMO.

Also, why the heck is Hanenbow even a stage? I think it's one of the worst stages in the game, and Electroplankton was only one game, where many pre-existing series with more games got squat.

Whoa! Do you realize what you just said? But, no, seriously. I wanted to play Mother 3 after achieving great skill with Lucas.

Totally agreed. We need moving stages that A) Aren't unfair and B) Aren't frickin' F-Zero!
Also, don't you (referring to everybody, of course) think the music selection allotment was a bit odd in Brawl? Like, actually match songs to stages, not series. E.g.: Assign the song Frozen Hillside to Summit. Makes more sense, and it isn't exclusively in the Ice Climbers/Classic Games range (Clu Clu Land is sort of okay, but I don't like it in Brawl.). On songs, maybe better remixes? A) Take random songs off the 'net, be they MP3 or MIDI, and put 'em straight in the game. B) Remix for right...! The song Dark World has its merits, but not for the Dark World from Z3. It suits, like, Venice, Italy more than the Dark World.
(I apologize if you're really from Italy and that statement is wrong, but that's what the music makes me think of. ...place like that, with that scene/setting...)

Stage discussion. Glad to see we're on topic...  :tongue2:
