Super Santa Bros.

$t3v0

Awesome Bro

It's a little difficult to move whilst jumping. I was having serious problems with the first goomba.

I like the music, love the little intro story and I feel a nice little game. Good work!

Why in heaven's name did you use rapidshare? ;0

But nonetheless I'm trying this out. Looks fun.

Changed it. Thanks to Rieves for the new download link.

Hmm, I wonder why... Works fine on mine. It might just be lagging a bit.
I'm glad you like the music, and thanks.

Okay some stuff:
-original graphics:
sweet, captures the Christmas feeling quiet well. The only thing I don't like is the white text box in the beginning, it seems rather cheap.

-controls and overal gameplay:
buggy as hell, I'll try to report most of what I can remember:
-You can start moving while Santa's talking to his sleigh(crazy old bastard)
-the goompuddings are easy to dodge once you know the trick(right in front of them jump and then press ->) but sometimes it looks like you dodged them but still get hit for some reason. probably since this doesn't use pixelmovement.
-jumping is generally awkward
-if you press continue and then press enter real quick you can begin on the level you died instead of the previous one(THANK god)
-Grabbing coins and presents in air is sometimes impossible even when you clearly touched it.
-sometimes in a level the panorama and life/coin count will be missing and the music won't be playing.

Overall I give it a 7.5 out of 10

-Music:
-Some Mario effects and jolly tunes, fits the game but nothing out of the ordinary.

I'm glad I was able to finish it without clawing my eyes out.

Mirku: I'm glad you like the graphics. The text box at the beginning was made in about 2 seconds, because I ended up making this in a day, but I haven't got time to change it now.

Bugs:
1. Damn, I didn't realise that. And he's not talking to his sleigh, he's on his mobile. I'll see if I have time to fix it tomorrow.
2. Yeah, there is a technique to dodging them. The only reason it looks like you sometimes miss them is because, like you said, there is no pixel collision.
3. Like I said to $t3v0, I don't know why. Again, I think that must be down to lag.
4. You begin on the level you die anyway?
5. Again, that's down to collision, but you can collect everything - you just need to do it a different way.
6. ? I don't know why that would happen... When does that happen, exactly?

Well, overall (from the score you gave it) it looks like you enjoyed it. Thanks for pointing out those bugs.

Bridgeman: That is basicly what this is ment to be.

4. weird I usually begin on the previous level when I normally die 0.o
6.It seems kinda random though it only happens when I've died at least once.

It's fun, but wut ppl already said when you think you haven't hit a goomba you have, and when i clearly hit a goomba sometimes i stay alive!

first thing i notice is some slight lag on the title menu

second thing i notice is that this is a typical shitty rpgmaker-tile-based-platformer the likes of which i made six years ago. i jump off the first platform and am immediately stuck behind a chimney. i kill myself to start over. same thing happens again. and again.

it is at this time that i scroll up to read the controls and find out that the A button is jump and the jump button was actually just a hop. why? make the SPACE BAR the jump button as well (this is intuitive and natural, it was by pressing the space button to NO RESULT that i assume that the up button was the jump button because it did something) and get rid of the HOP button altogether.

even though i figured this out, i still died right away as soon as i encounter a goomba. this isn't your fault, but the fault of the program. RPG MAKER CREATES TILE BASED GAMES. PLATFORMERS BY THEIR NATURE CANNOT HAVE TILEBASED MOVEMENT.

not a good choice on your part.

on the plus side, the graphics are adorable.

Thanks for playing, everyone. I apologize for the amount of bugs, like I said, I made the entire game in one day. I tried to add pixel movement, but I just couldn't find one that works with the platform script.
