Super Mario RPG: Legend of The Seven Stars

Long name? Yeah...
This has got to be one of the best games, RPGs and mario games I've ever played.

This game has an interesting game play, storyline and battlesystem.

The Story

Well this is what I grasp from it. An evil sword person called Smithy comes down and breaks Star Road, where everyone's wishes are granted. It shatters 7 stars across the land. Someone, called ♥♪!?, comes down from Star Road and enters inside a doll and controls it to fix the star raod. As mario you join other friends such as: Bowser, Princess Peach, Mallow and the doll (Geno) and try to fix Star Road.

Screenies

So has anyone else heard of it?

I got it. I'm stuck at the part when those guys take your star in return for a guy to stop being tickled. I saved in the wrong place, and when I die in the battle I have to do loads of stuff again. That annoying code for the pirate ship took me 1 year to find out the answere: PEARLS

Smithy is actually this shapeshifting monster. I forget what the sword's name is but it was probably a reference to Excalibur.

Yea, this game was great and probably the BEST example of a company taking someone elses franchise and making something new and original. The game was among the first rpg's to actually feature GAMEPLAY in the fact that you INTERACTED with the game; something that's sorely missing out from 90% of today's rpg's. The fact you could jump to find hidden boxes, use timed button attacks, pick up power ups, and play mini-games inside of battle made the entire thing much more enjoyable.

The game also featured some of the best side-quests and mini-games like the water rapids, yoshi races, the hidden casino, that ultimate being who was nearly impossible to beat, and the mine cart races.

The humor was incredibly off-beat too; lots of western references and jokes in a solid overall translation. Finally, the characters had a lot of personality and I actually felt bad killing some of the enemies because they were so cool in their writing and execution like the POWER RANGERS (Axesome Four or something) that you fight in a volcano.

Yea, very VERY good game. One of Square's best during what I dub "The 1995-1999 Golden Age of Square" where they pumped out a bunch of high quality original non-final fantasy titles.

*RIP that era*

Yeah it was great with all the hidden bozes and timed attacks.
There's one hidden box right at the start when toads takes you into the castle. You have to jump on his head and jump off ontop of the door inside. And if you miss it you can't get it...

And the Axem Rangers :D They we're funny.

If only they made another game like that...

Ages ago me and my sister thought up a mario game.
1 Player it was like Super Mario RPG but with a new storyline and new items and you could unlock items that you can use in the multi player races. If they did something like that say on the DS they'd get loads of buyers.

I haven't found the samus yet. I love it that the character graphics are so good. My bro thinks that square is now doing all of the mario graphics in fights and skills, like in Super Smash Bros or baseball, with those things flying around!

Mega Flare

Awesome Bro

This is easyly one of the best SNES games out there. It was fun and took a good time to beat. But its not as good as the Lufia games for the snes were

Not as fun as I remembered it. I think I was just impressed by the novelty of the isometrics. I still am, I've played through a bunch of crappy games just because I like the way isometric graphics look. Also, the enemies were insane, I liked that. The minigames were okay too. I thought it kept the perfect balance of linearity and extras. I hate overly linear games but I love always knowing where to go, and I hate games that leave it completely freewill cus I get lost but I like secret bosses, secret areas, and so on.

Well, I haven't played this in forever so I can't comment too much, but I do remember that both my little brother and I loved this game.

I just beat it for the first time the other week. It's an awesome game, a bit bummed when I found I couldn't get the secret box in the castle...I spent hours searching for it, before learning I'd missed the chance...

That dodo you fight in the cloud land place...I love the music when he's observing the statues and you have to not be pecked. Awesome game.

SMRPG...good times....Booster's Tower was funny, I have to say. I was never able to beat Culex though. I loved the battle music a lot, and it was one RPG that I never ran from battle because the encounters annoyed me.

Sweet Jesus, you rock syvkal! I just replayed the game earlier today, beat it under three hours.

If you've never played this game, you're really missing out.

Agreed.

That game was awesome, no doubt about it. Axem Rangers and Countdown were annoying bosses and that smithy guy was easy to beat. :D
