So Starhawk was finally announced last night on GTTV after years of rumours and speculation building up over the internet, I thought it'd be cool to post on here since I'm really excited for the game.
What is Starhawk?
Basically, the game is like a sequel to Warhawk, which is an online-only PS3 exclusive where the main feature of the game is a "Warhawk" which is a jet/plane that can transform back and forth into a sort of hover doodah (Like a helicopter but doesn't look like one), and features 32 player combat.
Starhawk follows the same kind of gameplay from the look of it, except they seem to have improved a lot, it doesn't take place on earth either, it takes place on multiple planets and even in space (Apparently the space battles are shit hot and even better than the ones on Star Wars Battlefront II, which by the way were amazing!), and these "Starhawk" vehicles now transform from spaceships (The small kind like on Star Wars, not the big Apollo ones, lol) into robots/mecha's, and to be honest they look amazing!
What's so different about this and Warhawk?
Well, there's some big differences, the main two being;
- It now has a singleplayer mode, I doubt it'll be anything extraordinary, but it's always nice to include this.
- The singleplayer can be played co-operatively with 4 players, either splitscreen or online, I know a lot of people love this sort of thing so it's a great selling point.
I think that since Warhawk was so online-orientated (Well, that's all it was) people may end up skipping the singleplayer on here, but hopefully with co-op play they'll actually band together and complete it.
Here's a quote from Eurogamer about the multiplayer;
On the multiplayer side, Starhawk features 32-player matches, up to four-player online and offline co-op play, and split-screen gameplay within multiplayer and co-op modes against an endless attack of enemies.
The game supports tournaments, leaderboards, clans and additional friend list and quick matches. There's a community events calendar, ticker tape updates, and plans for a Starhawk Android app."

I've not added as much information as I'd like but I'm only using what I've seen since the announcement, and I watched it like... an hour ago and checked a thread over on another forum. There's some screenshots too and I'll post them here whenever I can dig them out.
