Spore (Release date has finally been...um, released)

Just got an Email this morning stating the release date of Spore, which is September 7 2008. This is one of those games that I must have, just like the Orange Box (already have it) and Brawl. What do you think about the game? What are your thoughts on the release and so on...As for me I'm just glad we finally hear some news on it and can't wait for the game.

What's Spore: "From the very tiniest forms of life to the intergalactic level of existence, you are in control of life itself in this simulation game by Will Wright. Beginning in the primordial ooze, players create a character from DNA that will grow, survive, and mate as it evolves from a single-celled organism to a fully-formed member of an establishing species. As more and more creatures inhabit the world, and as evolution forms the future, your species will join herds, clans, even civilizations. The more advanced the creatures of the planet grow, the more complex the strife of survival becomes. And while the player can continue gameplay in Spore at any level -- playing as a cell, as a wild creature, or as a civilized and organized society – players can also step even further out and play the game from the planetary or interstellar level, while also going online to connect worlds with other gamers."

Wow, they must really be polishing up this game. Every time I see a video of it it looks complete. And I recall seeing them a year ago. Viva la Will Wright!

That's misleading. You can't really go online, in the sense that you can interact with other players. You can simply download other player's creations onto your game and they show up in the various other planets. What you do to them has no effect on the player who created them.

Jebus, I was nearly clawing my eyes out to play this game 2 years ago. Now it's been vaporware so long I hardly feel excited.

I'll still buy it on the first day it's released though :thumb:

Spore got a release date! Awesome, I wanted to play this since I saw the E3 B-Roll! I'm gonna guess that it's gonna get pushed back again but, this games worth it.

I saw this on Sir Clevinger's rollicking good illustrated comedy act about maybe one or two uncountable eras ago. I can hardly believe it hadn't already been released; seriously, the topic title made me do a mental "buuuUUUUUH?" I had the wisdom to keep my strawberry spritzer in my mouth and avoid a spit-take that would kill my keyboard again.

It couldn't have picked a better time, really, as this is the year I stopped being a huge Mac-fag and got a Dell. Man up. Whoo!

I especially anticipate the initial Pac-Man-esque single-celled organism stage of the game, before things get too complicated. Of course, this game looks more fun complicated than it does break-into-the-Gulag complicated.
