Spam getting out of hand

What is it with spam these days? I have a G-Mail account, and my spam is deleted every 30 days, and yet I just checked my e-mails:

There might be genuine stuff in there, but I'll never know as... 1000+ spam e-mails in one month... all asking me to buy porno, illegal DVD's, warez, and Viagra...

Do people honestly make that much money from spam for it to be worthwhile? O_o

I'm always offered cheap Viagra or penis extensions, and every couple of days I win the Canadian lottery, which is bizarre as I live in London U.K.

I really don't understand what they get out of sending so much crap when 90% of people don't ever open them.

Spam is mostly generated when you sign up to a service, forum or another other website form. As soon as you send that form the site owner is allowed to sell your information to other companies who say: We don't have that guy, let's send him an e-mail asking his to buy our product.
But there are other ways spam is made, if your e-mail address contains your name, such as: bob@email.com then a spam generator will send more spam to that person then someone with an e-mail like: bobzie500@email.com because the spam generators search for names, then start on the alphabet then numbers.

Because even if 10% of people read it (I believe it's actually much lower than that), it's more than worth it. If it weren't profitable, spammers would stop spamming.

I once got a different dating email each week. "White Women?" "Black Women?" "Asian Women?" Apparently not answering one, they went on to the next. Kept going till they went through every race too >O

Hmm... I have 2 gmail accounts.

One for my web stuff, where a email is required (I dont check it often) and my personal account, which I only give out to people who I know, or colleges who need to contact me.

Even in my college one, I get a few spam emails every week, but not that often... and it is all put into a spam folder which is deleted weekly, so no problems there...

You probably signed up to too many websites and bought too much stuff over the world wide web :p
I know this first hand as dealing with spam is my job (Yes, I create spam. But only for Americans born in the 70's that need loans)
I only get spam from Microsoft because they constantly look through my hotmail account and have come to the deduction that I'm a software developer.

So far, I had very few spam, but, it doesn't stop the waves of the spams.

That's because you have to know the trick. Sign up as a thirteen year old girl and you will get little to no spam. Why? Because it's illegal for them to send porn links to children and they send more to men. I usually only get random money issues or some lame news crap in my account. Maybe like two or three a month. Seriously try that. It works.

Thats the problem ;_; I have two accounts. Hotmail and gmail. I only use my hotmail account when I sign up to websites or buy things online. My gmail account is only used for my voice actors to send their lines to me. Otherwise, I NEVER use it or give it out *cries* how do they do it?!
