Something Deep and Fascinating

http://jackson22.googlepages.com/s57c.jpg[/IMG]

I discovered this when a friend told me about it.
The story is this, in Japan shortly before a teenage girl comitted suicide, she drew this picture, scanned it and posted it online. In korea this story broke out and it spread like wildfire. There are various posts around in korean forums that say that the viewer gets drawn to the girls blue eyes, they say they can detect a hint of wraith and sadness within the eyes. Maybe the girl had died with so much sadness and anger that her spirit haunts the image, or maybe the image provoke sadness, similar to the song 'Gloomy Sunday'. The freaky bit is this, they say it is hard for a person to stare into the girls eyes for longer than 5 minutes, there are reports that some people have taken their own lives after doing so. People say the picture changes, as you view it there is a hint of a growing taunting smirk appearing on the girls lips or a dark ring grows around the girl or her eyes. One thing is for sure, the picture has sparked a curiosity in me that I must find out, I feel a presence when I look at the image.

So, I would like to know what the global online community feels, and maybe even experts in art would be able to resolve why the eyes of this image can draw the viewer in so deeply?

Er, wrong forum. This has nothing to do with RMXP. Moved.

Part of the reason the face/eyes draw you is because that is the focus of the image. It is both part of the lightest part of the image, and the most detailed. Everything else in the picture is very dark, blurry, and/or not too detailed. That makes the face jump out at you. Her expression is pretty nuetral, it'd be easy to interpret it a number of ways, including sad or smirking. That, and an overactive imagination probably accounts for the picture "changing."

there's actually a gif version that does change it grows and evil smile and stuff after a while

it was probably just made to screw with superstitious people who fall for this garbage like you

I for one think it is a pretty cool picture, but I have a lot of troubles staring at anything for more than 5 minutes, so I doubt that is supernatural. Also, how would anyone know if people commited suicide after staring at this picture for 5 minutes or more? I doubt they mention staring at a jpg for 5 minutes in their suicide notes.

The artist is very good. The color makes the figure very realistic.
Honestly, i quickly get drawn into freaky stories like that... Yes, like a young girl...

I stared at the picture for maybe 15sec and i was a bit frightened already. Yes, the lips look like its between smiling and sadness.. You may I am over reacting but that's how i felt.. My heart beat faster. :(

One more thing i could say is.... She's beautiful.... :)

If it wasn't the middle of the freaking night, I'd probably do it... O_O..

This picture really creeps me out, but it could just be me being over imaginitive... yea... I'm done with this topic.. ::shiver::...

It's okay guys. I checked it out and this is bogus. They just took some random portrait off the net and attached some crazy ass story to it. There's nothing to fear, she's no-

Perhaps it is my imagination, but after staring at it for a mere 30 seconds, the area around the eyes looked bruised or dark, and it had a really creepy affect. However, I don't think it has some sort of spirit-perhaps it is just people's imagination.

It is a very well done picture though.

Oh god I'm next aren't I?!

OOC: Spookiness aside, it's a very nice picture! I'd much rather have seen it without the supernatural humbug attached to it. :3

There's nothing wierd about being in the middle of sad and happy. It's called neutral :D

NB If you stare at something for five minutes the receptors in your eyes will probably errode (only for a few seconds, obviously). I used to think it was really cool to lie on the bed in my room and stare at the ceiling listening to the White Stripes- it's painted blue with clouds, and after a minute or so all the clouds kind of dissolve away and the blue parts look like their kind of moving around... Anyway, the point is, the White Stripes are cool.

I stared at it for about 2 minutes and was about to cry. Freaky.

That alone is a reason to kill yourself.

I stared at it for around 10 minutes (probablu more like 3, but it seemed like forerver), just to show TREG up, and now my eyes hurt.

I think I might kill myself now.

*snicker*

I'm gonna go say bloody mary into my bathroom mirror.

Seriously. How is this any different?

that joke is getting really old.

Candyman? Seriously, the younger generation is wussier at everything, even their boogymen. ;)

Supernatural or not, its an awesome picture, although I can see why someone would say it looks like she is smiling, the thing that freaked me out is that it looked like she was breathing
