Some questions about xBox360

I was thinking about saving up for an xBox360, but there's some stuff I need to know about it first.

1. Does the "red ring of death" happen often? It happened to my brother a while back, and taking out the hard drive and putting it back in solved the problem, but how often does that happen?

2. What games are xbox exclusive? Like, can I get "Halo 3", "Assassin's Creed 2" and "Fable 2" for PC(saving me a ton of cash)?

3. Can you use the xbox to go on the internet, like the Wii? Like can I browse music sites and stuff?

4. Is Ninja Gaiden 2 as good as it looked? It looked freakin' amazing.

1. I've never had it happen to me, and I've got one of those "first gen" ones where it happened the most. Granted, mine is probably on its way out.. it lags really bad during some games (graphic pop-ins, or just some graphics not even loading at all).

2. Halo 3 and Fable 2 aren't on PC (yet). I'm not sure if they will be, but I, personally, am about 99% positive they will eventually. Assassin's Creed 2 isn't an exclusive as far as I know.. it should be coming for all systems.

3. Nope, only Wii and PS3.

4. No clue. Don't care much for those kinds of games (button mashers).

EDIT:

What type of games do you like? No one system has better exclusives than the other (I personally hate the Halo franchise, so H3 is a moot point, imo). The only reason why I would choose a 360 over PS3 is because the 360 has the capability to invite ANYONE to ANY game you're playing, as long as they have it, and it puts them right into the menu needed to join your game. PS3 can't do that unless it's built into the game itself. Then again, I don't really care about that because nobody I know has a PS3, so I'm just playing with random people all the time.

EDIT2:

This post isn't supposed to sound mean.. if it does, I apologize.

I wouldn't think the red ring of death would happen much, if at all, with the newer ones. The first batch of 360's are the ones that had it. It happened to me, but I just sent it in, and got a brand new one sent back for free. Pretty good deal, except that I was xboxless for a few weeks.

Mine hasn't red ringed yet, and I've had it since September. As for Halo 3, and Fable 2, they are currently 360 exclusives, and Lionhead has no plans to port Fable 2 to PC (Halo 3, I don't know but it is unlikely as it has been two years). No, there is no web browser for the 360, but I honestly don't know why you would need one in the first place. You already have a computer don't you? any computer based browser is far superior to their console or handheld counterparts. I can't say for Ninja Gaiden as I'm not interested in it in the slightest.

I have the Wii Opera Browser, and though it's a piece of crap, I still use it when I don't have a computer around. My computer was broken for about 3 weeks, and I used the Wii Browser to look up Guitar Tabs and play flash games.

Plus, the xbox can hold a library of music files right? And it can hook up to a computer to share music files right? I have computer troubles every other week, right? So amazon.com or something like that would be good to have on xbox.

And also, what exactly does the red ring do?

PS3 can hold music, as well as connect to PC, just like the 360, can take flash drives and those mini memory stick things (SD, miniSD, etc). You can even watch videos on your PS3 from your PC through a network, complete with subtitles as long as the subtitles are named the same as the video file. Not sure if you can play music while playing games, though. It's not important enough to me.. but I think it depends on if the game comes with the capability.

I'm not getting a ps3. I can't afford a 300-400$ gaming system, why do you think i'm getting a normal 360(maybe)? $200 is a lot as it is.

If you plan on playing online at all, you WILL need a hard drive so I would recommend getting the $300 pro bundle. Plus, if you spend $400 and get the GotY 360 Elite bundle, you will get Halo 3 and Fable 2 for free packaged with the system. That's over a hundred dollars of games along with a 120GB hard drive, black system headset and controller, and an hdmi cable set. Also, Elites are said to have a lower RRoD rate than other current SKUs.

I don't get console's for their online games. I get them for single and small multiplayer games. I only enjoy online games that are on the computer, and only two or three at that. I'm not much of an MMOer.

Also, it's not in my budget to get an xbox even to tell you the truth. I'll probably only going to get the xbox games that get ported to PC... I should be saving my money on a drawing tablet. The best cheap one I could find was like $65.

I don't know what really happens inside the device, all I know is that if you have it your 360 won't start anymore.
I've had the RROD once and I bought my 360 about 2 years ago, so I don't think it will cause you much trouble, and even if it does you can get a new one for free.

And a few exclusive 360 games I have:

- Lost Odyssey
- Blue Dragon
- Enchanted Arms
- Gears of War 1 and 2
- Kameo

~Edit

I forgot, Gears of War 1 and 2 are on pc now as well right..?

1.) its random really... i have a few friends who never had it while i have a few friends who have had it more the 8 times.

2.) There will be PC versions in the future

3.) Nope. PS3 has the best browser out of the consoles. its faster then internet explore

4.) I hear its fillled with gltiches and problems. if you were getting ps3 i saw wait for the ps3 version of it :p

As a PS3 owner, I... have to totally disagree. The browser the PS3 uses is a port of a cellphone browser. It has no features aside from the absolute basics and is a pain to navigate. I vastly prefer the Wii browser.

Also, if you really want to save some cash, here's what I did for my 360: I bought the $200 Arcade model, and then bought a 20GB hard drive for $20. That's a whole $80 cheaper than the 60GB Pro bundle. The extra HD space isn't really worth it unless you're going to be downloading a lot of movies to the thing.

It is good, it's quite difficult though, I'm on the lowest difficulty setting and get KOed by all bosses at least once before winning, normal play I'm not that bad though, I've only played up to the 5th level btw.

On 360 vs PS3, I say go PS3 now, it's got a much more interesting year ahead of it and if you can get the exclusives you want on PC then there is no need for a 360, right?
