Some critisism needed, some tips too!

As you can see, (for those of you who can see the image) I attempted to do CUSTOM HAIR *gasp* by following THIS: hair tutorial:

(aint those dollies just endearing? aha! I say ;P)

I know for sure the outcome didn't turn out so well, I want some tips and people to show me where I went wrong on making the hair and shading it and how I could've done it better... Please something to help me improve, I'll take it all in! You can only get better with a result like that X_x

lol! I'm sleeping by the time you read this sentance (SP?), so please leave some helpful comments if you can, if you think it looks nice, I'd be more than happy to hear some compliments ;P!

Is this meant to be a Battler, a sprite, or are you just looking for help on your pixel art?

Thanks for the tutorial, but I think I need some tips on how to improve, the tutorial does not tell you how you did after you've attempted it...

I need some help, critisism please any suggestions or recommendations. Maybe other than tutorials? Please?

The hair looks... solid. It's got great shading, to my unskilled eye, but it looks like she's wearing something on her head. You have to make it look like hair. The best example I can find quickly is your avatar. It's got lines in the hair to show uh... what's the word. Hair, I guess. XD But yeah, I think that would help.
