Solitude Bay ~ WIP RPG

Hmm, not much to talk about but I figured that it would be a good idea to collect my thoughts and ideas.

The goal of making this game, for me, is to make a full 20+ hour RPG using nothing but the basic RTP that comes with RPG Maker VX. So far I've had thoughts about importing other graphics because it would make everything so much nicer but I intend stick with the original intent. The only graphics I've imported are Monster graphics and that's because the RTP doesn't come with nearly enough monsters to work with. The only scripts that I've imported are some of Dragor's and that's pretty much it (and I'll definitely thank him for that in the credits). I've also personally edited some of the original code (mostly the battle formula) to suit my needs (and the fact that the formulas look terribly ugly and work in a way that doesn't make sense, IMO).

Another goal of mine is to not focus on too much story. Gameplay comes first! So I created a general class system that will hopefully be enjoyed by all. The main character is also a generic "no-name-no-talking" hero who represents the player in this world. The other two party members are also generic man-made characters who don't talk too much. So yes, 3 PCs in all. One last touch that I'm trying to put in this game is atmosphere; I'm making the most of the RTP to make the RPG to have natural looking lands as best as I can with a hint of tinting the screen.

This isn't the first time I've worked with RPG Maker, so I know what I'm doing. I hope to make a nice fun RPG for all to enjoy!

Story
Like I said, there isn't much of story. The reason why you, the main character, is going through-out the world is to explore it and find new people. See, the lord of all creation, the Deity (original, no?) accidental placed you on an empty bay, known to you as Solitude, when he created the world. He expresses how sorry he is for doing so and allows you to explore the lands of the world he created. And thus, as you progress through the game, new worlds open up for you, each with different locales and cultures... and problems. Lots, and lots of problems.

Regions
The lands you visit are called Regions by the people in the world. You'll get to visit a lot of regions. 12 of them, in fact. And each region has its own little problem that you, as the main character, get to fix.

Solitude
The Hub world, it's where you start out and where you can change classes. Gradually, the bay will be filled with objects that'll lead you to the different regions of the Deity's world.
Greenland
Beautiful grass lands filled with friendly people. However, all of the people here are getting worried about their low supply of wood. This is the first of the worlds you get to visit.
Mahera West
A large desert land, filled with a unique culture of people. Recently, the Nile River dried up, which leaves the people here without water.
Mother Drussia
Chilly cold ice lands, with lots of caves all about. A monster has been sighted terrorizing the near-by townsfolk of Snowland.
Urban Eagle
A very large region filled with massive amounts of people. People have been reported to mysteriously disappear in the middle of the night.
Kingdom Khum
A large region ruled by the iron-fisted King Khum. The region is on a verge of a war against its king.
Mahera North
Large, rocky mountains with waterfalls all over the place. There have been a massive amount of earthquakes happening recently.
L'Asia
A small kingdom filled with people of old customs. The ghost of a dead King has appeared and is causing a ton of problems in the kingdom.
Concrete Jungle
A large island filled with animals of all kind... or at least it used to be.

There are of course more regions than I've talked about, but that would ruin the fun if I told you all of them!

Characters
You - The Main Character
You choose the name, the gender, and look of your character. You'll also be able to change your class whenever you want at Solitude. For a small bit of time, you'll have the travel the world alone.

Your Companion
At some point in the game, you'll get to create a companion who'll help you on your travels. You get to choose their name and gender as well as their class. Once you choose their class, though, they stay as that class.

Robot Companion
Later in the game, you'll have the opportunity to choose one of three robots: An Atk-Bot, a Def-Bot, and a Mgc-Bot. You can only choose one and they come with their own arsenal of skills. You can equip them with whatever you want but they fight on their own accord.

The story of these characters, their thoughts and feeling, you decide them all. These are your characters, and your characters only.

Class System
As said, your main character can freely change classes in Solitude, and you get to choose one class for your companion to stick with. There are four classes in all:

Warrior: Melee, of course. They have incredibly high HP and Attack which allows them to slice and dice any enemy down. However, they don't learn too many support skills that'll help them out in battle.

Gunner: With a wide variety of ranged weapons, these guys have a ton of status-effecting skills. They have a huge amount of Speed but are otherwise a little below average at combat.

Magician: They are particularily bad a fighting in general, but they learn wide variety of skills that can decimate any enemy on their path. They have incredibly high Magic and MP because of this.

Cleric: While otherwise average at combat, they learn a large variety of support skills, from healing to status-reducing. They got great Magic and Speed too.

One feature about the class system in this game is that while each class has its own levels, all skills learned in one class are carried over to other classes; Thus, if you learn Cure in the Cleric class and move onto Warrior, they too can use the skill Cure. Unfortunately, only the main character can do this.

Aside from those four classes, there's also one extra class that you start off as and only the main character can play as:

Neutral: You're forced to play as a Neutral class for the first world you visit. They are average at everything and thus are not bad at using any skills from any class. They can even equip any weapon and piece of armour that you'll find in your adventure.
Although, after Level 10 they become fairly useless, once you start learning skills from other classes the Neutral class truly becomes the jack-of-all-trades character. They may even have a hidden potential of some sort too...

I'm in class right now so this is coming soon!

Work Done
Characters & Classes: 99% (Needs Tweaks)
Skills: 80% (Needs Tweaks & Monster Skills)
Items/Weapons/Armor: 99% (Needs Tweaks)
Monsters & Troops: 5%
Maps & Events: 8%
Scripts 99% (Needs Tweaks/Another Script?)

Overall: 40% Done (IMO, not a Percentage)

The game is well underway, but the maps and events are indeed the hardest part of the game. Monsters are made as the maps are made.

That's all for now, I think. Any comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated!
