Should Fast Food Include Salad?

Heres a little something I had floating around in my head and thought would be something new to chat on. Ok so for a while now, as I'm sure we all know, fast food resteraunts have started to bring in the whole healthy menu, you know, greens and beans. I just wondered what everyones opinion was on the matter. Do you think its great to see these places encourage there customers eat healthier? Or do do you like the fact that your favourite fast food joint can be associated with a nice juicy and greasy piece of meat?

Now when I first started thinking about this my initial though was, "What the fuck? It's a fast food place, keep it to what it is and what it knows". Before all these salads, and grilled chicken sadnwhiches were introduced I viewed fast food resteraunts as a place that served something quick, cheap and greasy and that appealed to me.

But the more I think about it, it's great that they serve things such as salads now. Personally I'd never touch them, I'm not that much of a greens eater. Still, for the person that is, McDonalds could provide a salad just as tasty as anywhere else, and likely cheaper. So I guess the introduction of healthier fast food may be a litter easier on the wallet.

Also a typical fast food meal provides enough calories and fat for your entire day. One in four Americans eats fast food everyday. So, if that one American is open to the idea of salad, maybe it'll just help that curvy figure too.

So, what do you think about having healthy eating in fast food resteraunts? To sum, I think it's great for those who are going to enjoy it, but personally I like going there for the grease.

Hell yes.

I'm a vegetarian, and there's typically only ever salad I can eat in fast food places. Hell, when I went to KFC I had to bring in a veggie burger from McDonalds because even KFC's salads have chicken in them :(

Good point. Alot of vegetarians probabbly had a rough time finding something quick to eat while on the go prior to these changes. The only other option I could see is to get a sub. I was actually in KFC today and they seem very stubborn when it comes to their healthy menu. Its really just corn on the cob or your ass on the kirb.

Despite the fact that fast food restaurants allow you to order a salad, it doesn't mean it's healthier for you. I should know, I work at a fast food restaurant that does just that. Sure, it's chicken that's on the salad, but it's the same chicken that they serve in their sandwiches. It's not somehow any healther for you. Unless you're lazy ass can't burn off all those carbs in the bread.

But let me tell you, our salads come with an onion ring. Every one of them. A nice, deep fried, greasy onion ring. Sure it's an onion, but think about all that yummy fat it's deep fried in. Definitely not exactly healthy for you.

I'm not even going to talk about dressings like ranch.

So yeah, salads can be good for you. Fast food salads really aren't. So it's ok to eat them. XP

i like salad.

businesses can do anything they like to serve their customers.

btw a salad from wendy's has about the same amount of calories and fat as a burger if you use a cream-based dressing

They just provide them to look more ethical and so McDonalds can be a major sponsor of sporting events.  It's not as if they remove the existing menu so what does it matter?

Grilled chicken tastes like wood to me. I don't mind salad in a bun with meat but I never eat it alone. With rice once in a while.

I agree with Calibre, I think they're doing it to look good. I never see people order fruit or milk in a McDs happy meal.

God no.  Why the hell would any market specializing in getting what the costumer wants at a reasonably fast pace for a cheap buck want to actually make available what the costumer wants at a reasonably fast pace for a cheap buck.  What's next?  You'll tell me employers aren't allowed to hire based on the skills of would be employment, such as being bilingual.
Oh wait, that last part was another thread... oops...

Seriously.
Why wouldn't any market not sell something in demand?

-Mr. Bigproffitdood, our customers would like apples.  They are willing to pay for them.
-TO BAD!  Let them eat cake!
-But the apples Mr. Bigproffitdood, the apples...
-Bah!  CAKE I SAY!  Cake or death >
