Sheldon's Tales: Becoming a Hero

Hello! I've started work on my first RPG Maker game, and wanted to hear your opinions. This is more or less a series of games that will detail the character of Sheldon and his never ending light-hearted adventure to make the world a safer place.

Spoiler: Story

It seemed like another ordinary day at home in the town of Larzia. Sheldon was heading to meet his friend Dart for a bit of practice at the shooting gallery, until a plague of killer bees attacked the town. While everyone in the streets panicked in fear and went into hiding, Sheldon tried to convince Dart to fight off the bees with him, but Dart simply said it was too dangerous and went into hiding. Sheldon was sick of how nobody was doing anything to stop the bees, so in an act of bravery he decided to try and fend off the bees himself, equipped with only a crossbow.

While Sheldon got some of the bees, he was unfortunately out of Crossbow bolts and thought his death was certain. Just then the Larzian army showed up and wiped out the bees with their magic and weapons. The leader of the Larzian Army's 51st Legion, Saren, looked at Sheldon and thanked him for saving them a lot of trouble. Sheldon asked if he could join the Larzian Army because he wanted the world to be a safer place. Saren had a blank expression on his face and laughed at him, but agreed to bring him into the army, mostly as a joke since he figured he wouldn't last.

Sheldon, now a new recruit in the Larzian Army's Academy, will have to deal with the difficult training of becoming a member of the Larzian Army.

Sheldon: Sheldon is not your typical hero. He has no gift that can decide the fate of mankind, no tragic past, just a crossbow and an iron heart. Lots of people have trouble taking Sheldon's will seriously because he's seen as a bit of a flake. Sheldon's goal in life is to make the world a safer place, even if it takes a lot of hard work.

Gren: Gren is an advanced student at the academy studying light magic. Gren is a selfish, pushy, stuck up man due to his noble uprising, and believes he should have been a Legion Leader from the start. Gren has a real way with the ladies at the academy, except for the younger ones. Gren hates Sheldon the minute he says hi, because he's just too flaky.

Diane: Diane is an Elven student at the Larzian Army Academy, studying light magic as well. Diane is sweet, and carefree but wishes she'd meet somebody nice at the academy. Her wish comes true when she meets Sheldon for the first time.

Galeos: Galeos is the weirdest student at the academy. Galeos is studying the art of stealth, and recon. Galeos usually has his head in the clouds, and is a bit of an idiot at times. When he meets Sheldon, Galeos believes that Sheldon is the weirdest guy ever.

Saren: Saren is the leader of the Larzian 51st Legion, and one of the most formidable soldiers ever. He believes that there's no time for personal feelings in a war, so he often times forgets his soldiers are people also and doesn't feel any sorrow when he loses one he spent a lot of time training. He thinks Sheldon is not going to last, and only let him join the Larzian Army as a joke.

Ellen: Ellen is Dart's sister, and is studying long ranged combat. Ellen only joined the Larzian Army because Dart was too scared to join. Sheldon finds a good friend in Ellen, but she's very shallow. She's always trying to get in a relationship with Gren, but she takes his insults like compliments.

Jem: Jem is the trainer for long range combat. While she's worked with bows, crossbows, and guns, she feels the bow is the most reliable weapon around. Jem has a difficult time working with Sheldon due to his flaky personality, but believes he may be the best student at the academy.

Well, hopefully this will be enjoyable for you.

I can't help but giggle at the prospect of trying to kill bees with a crossbow. Unless the bees are dog-sized, I don't see it being humanly possible. It's highly amusing.

...Besides the bees, I'm really indifferent. Nothing offensive, to be sure, but the characters and story are pretty bland. Speaking of, that's a lot like your mapping in the screenshots. Very empty, but not really wrong.

I'm glad you're using those faces. I absolutely love them but not enough people use them. Nice.

You have those adorable faces, you should put them in or above the message boxes to help set the mood of the game. ^_^

This is a good project with potential - not overly ambitious, but not noob-trash, either.

Your indoor maps will look a lot better if you scale down the rooms a bit. Think of each square as about 3 feet square, and scale the rooms accordingly. Also, you should see tile in that doorway to the kitchen, not wood. Otherwise, they're fine, excellent, even.

This game rocks. Nuff said. But really, I can't wait for a demo.

This project looks good. The game looks like it could really become a great light-hearted fun. I also third the notion that that the faces are awesome.

The characters all sound quite interesting. I'll keep an eye out for this one.

Ooh, interesting, I'm gonna keep an eye on this one. I love those face graphics! They're very cute. Sounds to me like a great light-hearted game for a casual play. Keep it up! :D

I don't know why,but this project attracted my attention.
maybe the 'killing bees with crossbow' thingie make it sounds
unique.Keep update.More info and demo,should be okay.
