Version 1.4 now uploaded!

All graphics and music are currently mock ups, and will be altered in the future. The Intro has also got a lot of extentions required, please take care it is a very premature project.

The Shadow Saga is a series of dark tales written from the book of Meta Revelations. Not many have read this book,... except for you.

The pages you read will depict an unwavering situation, in the world of Eden, which concerns the newly discovered continent from several years past. A blighted evil named the hex is the source of trouble in the world, yet a natural part of life. The once populated continent of Mutane suffers greatly from an attack from the Hex, a war brought on by 'Hex Conjurers', a type of magi that can place a foul curse upon living things and objects.

Interact with the world as you participate in an adventure that will ask the biggest question, why is it that we do not live forever?

Riley
Race: Human
Age: 17
Weapon of preferance: Blade
Riley is the sort who is not so easily tainted by danger, however is somewhat modest and careless. He remembers little of his mother, or her name and has a phobia of fire. Riley has known Zephyr for a long time, and has formed an unbreakable bond with her, like a sister.

Age: Unknown
Weapon of preferance: Claws
Zephyr is unknown to who she really is, and Riley can't seem to decide whether she's a feline or canine. She can place curses on people, causing them to have some form of bad luck. She can speak fluently with people unlike other types of beast.

Age: 19
Weapon of preferance: Unknown
Allan is the older brother of Tay. He left her to live in the forest city of Elvenbow. The only remains of his connection with her is a shining green emerald ring, one of a pair that Tay has the other half of. He feels regret by leaving Tay behind, due to her being locked away in her room countless times because of his abusive father, ex-priest, Graham.

Age: 14
Weapon of preferance: Unknown
Tay is a forgiving sweet girl, perhaps somewhat too forgiving as she has regretably stayed at her home rather than running away with her brother, in a hope that her father would return to the way he behaved when her mother was still alive. She keeps a beautiful red ruby ring, engraved with beautiful designs. It is part of a pair that Allan possesses the other half of.

Coltrane
Race: Human
Age: 45
Weapon of preferance: Knowledge
As head of the research facility of the governemental agency, C.M, Coltrane takes charge of the research projects. He developed a doll called Katumaru which Gajaki could use as a weapon. He is currently studying the cause of the Hex infected creatures, and the connection it has with a trio of magical guardians.

Age: 37?
Weapon of preferance: SMG
A creul man who likes to get ahead with sarcastic quirps and demotivation as a method of assigning tasks to his underclassmen. He believes that suffering seems to be the only way the goverment get their money, but people employed under him find him difficult to tolerate. He is one of the commanders under direction of the founding governer, Kodu.

The screenshots you have posted aren't exactly screenshots, are they? They're just small cropped parts of larger screenshots. For a thread, you need two proper screens.

The storyline - the idea of elemental gods has been done so many times now, that the moment I read that bit, I almost gave up reading it. Also, your stuff seems confused. None of the things you have posted seem to tye in. You have an image of Mack's purple woman fighter edit, saying about that being a new enemy, when we hardly know about the old ones.

But looking past that, and maybe removing the cliche-ness of the elemental gods, you have a pretty firm start. Good luck.

I appreciate the firm critisim, its hard getting together a thread, I'll be sure to replace those screenshots asap. Concerning all the things that do not fit together:- it will come together. It's all written up on paper, beginning to end; perhaps I should go back and rephrase it a little better on the thread.

I'm not quite sure about you, but I do like a little cliche. Avoiding it entirely is inevitable, no matter how bizare, how strange, or whatever type of RPG it may be; there will always be cliche. Since this was based on a hideously old story it will most obviously be there. I will prove to you eventually, when this project reaches its climax it will not be that of a mainstream game, i can assure you.
 
I realise it is impossible to avoid all cliches, and I wasn't meaning get rid of it entirely, but find a way to present it in a new and interesting way, that's what game making (and, more so, story telling) is all about.

I've noticed that your sprite for Zephyr does not match the concept art entirely. Since I do like hoe the project looks, I'm willing to sprite you one that fits the concept art, if you like.
 
I thank you very much for the offer. Since, at this moment in time, I am focusing more on the eventing and the like, I have very little time to work in the graphical department. I would sincerely appreciate it.

Did you have an inspirational game that you've stolen names from?

Also, there are many misspelled words in this thread here and there.

What are the features in this game?

In the story it ends with a "16 years later" what happens after that?

I've stolen names? These characters are based upon ones I developed on DeviantART a fair few years ago. I do however find that question fairly rude at that note. 'Stolen' is a very crude word to throw without sufficient evidence.

This is an early thread, I highly doubt you can create an essay in one swing an expect it to be perfect. Point them out to me and they will be corrected.

The features of this game were noted above in the 'features' section, if you hadn't of noticed. Other features will be applied as they are made so bear with me on this.

16 years later refers to present day. I thought it was made clear.

Well, I can't say I dislike your storyline. It seems ok, fairly common but with a cute touch and full of posibilities (I guess). I liked some of the concept works.

On the other end, "Cinematique Dramatica :AI" is a big name for a cute and way too easy to install feature, so zchin131's comment was spot on- you can't except people to try and play your game without any real selling points. Right now you don't really have anything to get people excited.

So... can't say I'm too intrested in the game, but I'll give the demo a try.

Edit: Played till the game ending bug (?)
My "story-loving" says you've got a cute storyline. Nowhere near perfect/satisfying (imo), but with nice (yet, over excessive) drama and decent (yet,...) use of music to portray drama.
My "rpg hardcore-fan" self, however, thinks you should play more rpg games before trying to make one of your own... and... after that, you should learn how to use RPG maker correctly...

I would like to elaborate my experiance with RPG games. All game development requires some form of research, and a very large proportion of that is by playing games. I myself, have played countless RPGs from beginning to end, I have also taken my a levels in the media department in terms of symbolisom of objects, meaning, atmosphere and the like.

Please expand on the issue with the game ending. I have tested it myself along with 2 other beta testers, and they have had no problem with it. The game should end on a cliffhanger with Cynthia and Zephyr.

The fire/water guardian is a very small segment of the true picture that will eventually build up. I'm focusing alot of effort on going over the scenes.

-As a small up date in the next version 1.5, all random encounters will be removed. I've developed a little monster system that means you can see the enemies on the feild. Expect it up within a day or so.

-Oh as another note, can you guys please keep the critism constructive. Rather than say the game sucks, tell me how I can improve it. It seriously helps me alot in developing a more enjoyable experiance for you all.

EDIT: As a note, I modified the story description so its a little less cliche. Throwing the word 'elemental gods' too soon seems a bit of a turn off. Hopefully its a little bit more interesting now.
