Serial number.

Hello, I recently got a new laptop for Christmas, but when I tried to download RPG maker onto, which I have and have bought on my other computer, I get the error: "Failed to obtain serial number from the nTitle server".

I have downloaded it from download.com, and I have also tried moving the Setup off my origonal computer onto my laptop, and I got the same error.

So... what do I do?

Connect it to the internet so that it can confirm the serial key. It should only have to do this once.

Connect /IT/ to the internet? Is that different from me constantly being connected via wireless browser?

Sorry, I should've assumed that a new laptop would have w-lan capabilities :P

It could be a problem with your windows registry... Try copying this into notepad, saving it as "Protexis.reg" and then double-clicking it to import it into your registry - don't worry, it should be fully legal considering its just for the trial. (Solution provided by gubid @ creation asylum)

you might also have it firewalled...

or, since it is a new laptop, I am assuming it has Vista... which is annoying sometimes when you are trying to run or install programs...

Try right clicking it and 'run as administrator' and if that doesnt work, try turning off the firewall for a bit.

Also make sure that the computer IS connected to the internet.  (open a web page or something to make sure. sometimes that is the problem.)
