Mascarpone, I'm not trying to sound evil or anything here, but it's his game, and he can do as he wishes with it, if he's a fan of Sephiroth and wants him to star in the game, then let him do that, if you don't like the game because of it, just avoid playing it.
This actually reminds me of something funny, I once starred Crazy Frog in a game (OMFG He was horrible !), but for a good reason, he got decapitated, and then the Zombies (Undead02), were making love to the parts, my friends almost died of laughter with that, damn I miss my old computer.

Although it's on a template or whatever, I think it's a little too small, I like it though, it has detail and does resemble Sephiroth alot, but I think it's just too small, The faceset is good, but maybe untan his skin abit, Sephiroth doesn't exactly have a nice spanish tan does he now, and he looks happy, Sephiroth is an evil guy, so try to make him look evil, and the nose area is wierd, see what he looks like with a nose.
