Ruby programming language

You know....

I've been learning RGSS awhile now, and I've been asking myself too.
There are many programming languages... and is RUBY the right programming languages for international for programming or game making ?

If i master RGSS would it be useful ?
for the first time, i was really impressed with this RPG maker thing, and so i learn RGSS until now.
but now i don't know, i kinda doubt it.

In fact if i go to a bookstore...
there is no RGSS's book in my country....
So i learn from internet (Thanks to all you guys )

So help will be appreciated

There won't be books on RGSS, but there will be on Ruby, but you probably are going to have to go to a bigger books store. A local library won't have it. Second option would be to buy one online.

Ruby isn't the most powerful language out there. It's rather slow set next to one of the C languages. However, it is extremely easy to pick up and learn. Maybe in the future when they "enhance" Ruby more and add more to it, it will be more useful. It's original design was for text-based programs, not all out art. Will it ever be able to handle 3D at an acceptable rate? Not without some extensive work.

It's worth to learn it, like any language. It's a good start for anyone wanting to pick up some programming experience, just don't be surprised you will find Ruby easier and quicker to program when you start exploring into some C languages.

So you mean Ruby beats C language ?
but everywhere i look for book programming
what i see is C++, Visual basic, Java

If Ruby is easier why then they don't work with it ?

Ruby doesn't beat C, it's just easier to work with, learn, etc. Then they might not have books on Ruby and you might be forced to look online for a book.

People don't work with Ruby simple because of speed.

Speed ? i don't get it...
do you mean RUBY is slow ?

What kind of game could we make with RUBY ?
Can we Make 3D games with it ?

C/C++ are the languages that make up games that you would buy at a Game Software Store. Speed is a very important attribute in games and when it comes down to it Ruby doesn't cut it. But it sacrificed speed for flexibility. That makes it an easier language to understand and bars some of the restrictions you find in other languages.

So anyway if you master Ruby would it be useful? Well I think any programming language learned is useful. It provides insight into programming languages as a whole and is also conducive to learning new problem solving abilities. Lastly Ruby is used more as a scripting language and most games make use of at least one scripting language to ease the creation of content, handle AI, and other things I can't even think of.

Good luck with it rock_yusef_lee! :thumb:
