Rtp Can Be Sexy Too

Pet project of mine. I don't think rtp is bad. It just needs some love.

Damn. I've gotta say, that is pretty sexy looking.

I love the touch-up of the ground, though try to work on the edges a bit, it's easy to see where they tile. The others aren't too bad, though the bark patterns on the first tree looks somewhat odd.

I got a bit more work done on the set. Added a couple of comparable bits from Mack's rmvx tileset. (Rocks, Red Flower, Mushroom) It meshes well, and saved me some effort.

This screenie shows how the two sets compare directly. Still not completely done with it yet though.

A little nitpicky detail, but the patches of grass are too squareish for my liking. Otherwise, much more realistic and detailed than the regular tileset. I like it. Wonder how RTP characters will look on it though? Or is there another template that fits it well?

Meh, I'm not going to fidget too much with the grass. The original set is blockier.

This is just edits to give people an alternative to the standard rtp. Which is sort of icky. Glad you like it though. As far as charactersets are concerned, I don't know. I suppose people would use what works for em.

Man, just adjusting the palette makes a HUGE difference, and the other changes you've made also help a lot. Nice work!

Yah. It really does improve on whats there. RTP itself isn't bad. It just needs tweaking. I laid textures over the pieces, and adjusted tones. I'm not happy with how.......green the tree bark looks though. I'll warm it up to a brown I think.

Okee dokee, the tileset itself is finished. Borrowed a few small bits from one of Mack's RMVX tileset.

Feel free to use it. I'll do the autotiles soon.

It's likely. This was more just to see what the difference was, and maybe inspire people to try it. I have limited time, but I may just end up doing more. I'm not committing to any course of action however. This will be a fully functioning set though, with a host of autotiles.

I really can't remember if I'm honest. It was a more cartoony style to it, so yeah you could say it was cell shaded. Twin Matrix took over my style and made an entire game from it. He did a really good job aswell!

Aye! I haven't posted anything here, but this has been one of my favorite threads that I've been keeping up on. Pretty cool stuff you've made here, a tutorial'd be great.
