[RPG] Phoenix's Music

that's a pretty solid melody
pretty epic though, for a foggy cave. also mysterious.. i don't know
you pretty much know what you can expect of the piece, and it doesnt really surprise the listener
though for the first cave it might be good

i'd have loved to hear a high-pitched bell pattern from 1:24 on which has a different melody,
so it'd pose a contrast against the lower tones, and bring in a fresh sound

that said, today i got inspired by this: http://www.behance.net/Gallery/BEATE-UH ... OCK/418466
(on an unrelated note, i'm going to try and recreate such a song one of these days)
so i'll just point you in that direction, and wait to see what you can make out of it

note: im not saying its bad, these are just my two cents should you decide on improving it

Another piece in D Minor. More action-y then mysterious, in my opinion.

This is for a lower part of the first dungeon, Foggy Cave, in my game, which is actually visited later. So it's more like the fourth dungeon theme. It's based on the original Foggy Cave music, which can be found here. viewtopic.php?f=93&t=70467

I suggest you listen to that before you listen to this piece so you get a better idea of the the leitmotifs.
Either way, here's the link to the song.

yo i merged your posts in one thread so the music forum won't get clogged up by all kinds of single songs,
and also this way you get a nice and handy collection of all your things in one thread.. what more could you want?

anyway, i've listened to foggy cavern v2, and the notes sound a bit off to me, could just be me though
also i miss the background strings at 1:24
it's definetly an improvement though
i've tried doing a small remake of my own: http://bb.ohsk.net/uploads/Foggy%20cavern%20remake.mp3

as for foggy depths, now that you have two pieces with the same melodic lead,
it all becomes more coherent and clear. ;)
though to be fair i've never liked that midi drum
and it IS more action-y than mysterious.. reminded me of zackwells piece actually: viewtopic.php?p=725133#p725133
(although that could be because of the drums)

anyway keep 'em coming!

This is another piece...I think it would work well as a final dungeon theme, chasing the bad guy through the basement of a tower or something (not that that is how my game will end...>.>). It's based on "A Cave, Maybe", which I've upgraded to game theme instead of dungeon theme. So think of that song as the title screen, and this song as the final dungeon theme.

If anyone could help with the ending, I think it ends and loops poorly compared to my other works..

and if someone could make a tutorial on how to STOP COMPOSING IN D MINOR DAMMIT. Thank you.

Its a nice melody, and very addicting. It would of been nice to see the strings pick up faster. I was listening and thought to myself, "this song needs strings." The drums threw me off as well, it wasn't something I was expecting, considering the more peaceful tone you had going, and I have mixed feeling about the drums. I guess it depends on what this would be used for. If it were for a theme song or whatnot, I think this would be appropriate. However, if this was in a place such as a cave, I would be expecting something more ambient. These are just my thought, Ive only told you this a jillion times but Im not an expert musician so get some other crits. Its a nice tune. c:
