RPG Maker veteran steps into the ring once more

So, out of boredom, and just merely a lack of wanting to continue my C++ until after my teammember comes back from vacation (heh, lazy me), I've decided to come back to RPG Maker for a bit.

Started using RPG Maker (2003 if i remember correctly) a bit less than 6 years ago, and roughly a year ago stopped using it altogether.

So hello to all, and if Kraft is still around - I'm going to surpass you in mapping, bro >.>

Yeah, welcome to the forums, enjoy your stay and don't do anything you'll regret.... actually, DO EVERYTHING YOU CAN THINK OF THAT YOU'LL REGRET, I did it, and look at me now, heh.

Er... yeah, probably best to memorise the above post as that guy is awesome and knows everything about everything.

Welcome back to RPG Making, and to the forums!

Do you REALLY think he'd take it serious anyways ? I doubt he wants to get banned within his first week or so, lol.

It's called a joke :| but ok

Lol sorry 'bout that, couldn't tell the difference, maybe cause my mind has been totally crushed by the stupid ol' hag of a tutor at college who made my life a complete misery all day, yay for mondays, lol.

Welcome to the forums, or welcome back apparently.

Indeed I do, what gave you that impression, lol, maybe it's this cocaine... :thumb:

Aaaanyways, lets not spam this guys thread with our random conversation, lol.

Hello QuantumMindGames! So you havn't been in the game (hehehe) for a while?
You going to start with XP or jump to VX?
Do you have any cool past works?
Do you :smoke: ?

Anyway, welcome!

Go with XP it's much better, especially for a vet. XP does everything VX can do and more. VX is the Vista of RPG Maker's just because it's newer certainly doesn't make it better.

Anyway, welcome and go with XP, trust me on this! :thumb:

And VX has many features that XP hasn't, higher FPS and a improved scripting language, so it really depends what you want. (I am a XPler though)

Anyways, welcome back! Glad to see someone who knows what he is doing for a change. So: Any great projects you did back in your RM days?

Actually, VX is miles better than XP. It has more features, more convenience (such as quick events and a bigger event/script window), and just more of everything.

The *one* part that VX is debately deficient at is mapping, but VX actually makes mapping easier - if you don't mind making a game that looks like a 32-bit Final Fantasy 1.

yeah, ive always been a fan of XP, I've worked with VX but never finished a game - the mapping system was it's downfall and that's basically my best attribute in XP.

i have both, but the game being planned out is with XP, I'm far more familiar with the system, which makes it more work to re-learn and get back up to par with VX than it would XP. Main con is the scripting, but SephirothSpawn and Trickster, Yeyinde, and a ton of scripters based here when I was last active have a large database of nicely usable scripts.

edit: i finished a 3-5 hour game with xp shortly before quitting altogether, if I feel like sharing my crappy game from the past, I'll try to find the file later lol. mostly, though, i helped out with other people's questions and occassionally made little minigames. I wasn't really heavy into it.
