SPARTAN
Ignore the helmet for now, it is my last task. It is terrible right now. I know.
I shaded it using Hydrolic's Shading Tut.
Please comment on it and tell me how you guys like it.

I think the helmet needs to be shadowed differently, as if there is a rise in the middle. I also think it needs to be a little darker and the cape darker too, it would fit better with the style. Great start though! That movie rocked hardcore!

I think dZ means the sprite needs more muscles. The sprite looks weak in comparision to what they actually looked like. Make the muscles more defined.

oh pshaw! how can you add more muscle to it? that template he's using is already more buff than the normal template! compared to RTP templates he's one strong dude!

I am working on the side view right now, he looks pretty buff on the side to me.

Oh and crazymew, I am using the Mac template and I added some muscle lines is all.

Only 2 problems I have with it... his helmet is a pillow, and please save as png, or something else that doesnt mess up the image.

After it is png, I can give some more feed back.

Also, I havnt seen the movie yet, but looking through some referance pics, the main character has a mohawk, ytou gonna add that? or is it just the main character?

What do you mean the helmet is a pillow?

And yes I am adding the mohawk, and yes it is for Leonidas only.


The sideview helmet is ugly. I can not seem to fix it up either. If anyone has any ideas for it, it is greatly needed.

Tis pillow shaded my dear friend. light source should be coming from the top left usually, so the brighter shades should be more to the side, what you have now is just slowly getting brighter towards the center of the helmet. Check out a few of the tuts to figure out more specifically what I mean if you havnt figured out.

Well, wow... yeah... happy I stopped you before you spent all that time doing the sprite. you really gotta change that pillow shading...

So for now, I will pretty much comment on your line art.
The helmet and leggings magically got taller in the direction change :p
same with the peice of the mask going over his cheek, but other than a few size flaws, its looking pretty good.

I can not find any good tuts for shading.

Oh, if you look at a sideview of the 300 spartan and the frontview, the side leggings look longer up. In my opionion

Would this one help? and could you provide me with the referances you are using... for no reason should armor change side from angle to angle...

That is stated in my first post that I am using that. And it says go from light to dark, well I go from light to dark and blam, pillow.

no, it think it is the cape that makes it look to forward.
