RMXP on Linux(Debian)

I've did some searching, and found nothing. WINE doesn't support RMXP so far because it uses external libraries, .DLLs, and RMXP can't find them on WINE's virtual drive.

There has been several attempts, but they've all failed, with errors with playtesting, audio, and menus.

Have you found something? Or do you just boot up Windows to use it?
Are there any tutorials out there, or exe replacements?
Or is it not worth trying, considering it uses DirectX?

{P.S. Yeah, sort of copied TheFrenzy's topic "RMXP on a Mac?"}

WINE doesn't run RMXP? Really?

I can run RM2k3 on here with no problems at all, but I didn't even try RMXP (trying to get Windows back on here regardless).

If WINE can't run it, I think you're basically out of luck unless you dual boot. My Linux experience is limited though, so I could be wrong.

RM2k doesn't have an RTP in the Common Files folder, nor does it have RGSS, so that's no dlls
That may be why.

Touche.

I personally am one of those guys who thinks that if it wasn't made for Linux (meaning you gotta use WINE) then you shouldn't run it with Linux. Maybe because everything runs slow for me through WINE.

Just a thought but what about Postality Knights? I know it's shit, but it broke things in a good way, like you can run it off a flash drive (as far as I know).

(Not endorsing piracy, you have the full version anyway so.)

Might be an idea, but there are some issues with the game.exe and project files. They say their "incompatable with this version"

But there is the solution of replacing the .exe and project files with authentic ones, and that works.

I haven't gotten anything to work with WINE yet... I'm booting Vista from now on for RMXP
