Ok, so I haven't been on here in a while and hopefully that will change now. Anyways I really love using cosmetic lighting and I had to figure out a way to use it in VX.
Now in order to do this you have to make the map the smallest size it will go which is 17x13. I know it kinda sucks, but you can still make decent maps even if it is a bit small. Anyways this is sort of a tutorial if you want to know the full method you can view Calibre's Cosmetic Lighting Tutorial. I will just be explaining how to get this to work with VX.
Now after you have the image you are using for your light created and saved. Go to your Resource Manager and import the image into your Pictures section. Next you have to create an event with a Parallel Process trigger. Then go to the second page of the event commands and select Show Picture, use the following settings.

Notice I also tinted the screen, that is to give it a more bluish look, since it is nighttime. This is what you will get when it's done.

I notice that the shadows from the wall is on the floor still, so I will have to try and work on this some more. The map also isn't the greatest I know, but I just put it together in about 2 minutes.
