returned to community and getting keyboard buttons failing

Hello all

I've been out of the RPG community for some 2 years or so, back then I published 3 scripts if i'm not mistaken, where 1 was a mini-game 1 was Menu system and the 3rd i honestly dont remember, lol, but anyways recently i got mood to come back :), even after i found out the rmg.net was down, and the 'great' scripts I once used, are lost on the internet or some were totaly revamped by new faces, i digged and digged and digged to try get stuff back :P

Right now, i've managed to find a CBS wich i liked and not «hardcoded» for I be able to slowly remembering how to script and change things to my own style.

But after all this, I've having some problems, I though was with that specific script, or maybe the 'Input' module (i tried 3 or so), but even the average 'Demo' of online scripts (for exemple: Mog Menu or several CBS), some times, i can't use the 'C' or 'Enter' buttons and some other times also the 'X', but the arrow buttons never failed to work.

I think is pointless i name you scripts i'm using, since this happand with any kind demo i download and test, but dont happand all the time, now i'm wondering is, all the problems i'm having is because I have a RGSS103J (not E) (downloaded the 'new' RTP thing) or is because i'm using windows vista HP 64 bits

And if the general 'forum rules' are the same, dont flame me (yet :P), I do have a legit software, but is kinda old, lol, and never had problems on past (when used to have windows XP 32)

EDIT: i'm sorry, almost forgot to mention, this is on RPG Maker XP

PS: anyonw remember wich input module allowed us access to all keys using: trigger?(Input::X), i remember i used one on past wich had the same 'code line' as default scripting use, i though was from cybersam or nearfantastica but the ones i saw from them, are different, right now i been testing some new scripts and some seems very powerful but uncessary complexed to my needs

For your key problem, as it seems to be a general probem, I can't help but remind you about the F1 menu, where you can re-map the built-in key mappings.
As for your Windows version, I've never had any problems using any RPG Maker on either Vista or 7, x86 or x64.
I don't know about 103J, but I can't imagine that fucking up your key mappings really... at least not to the point where you couldn't restore them via the F1 menu.

Keyboard input modules usually create a sort of different trigger to distinguish between ingame button mappings (from the F1 menu) and real key mappings (on the keyboard), which is why you usually find .triggered?() instead of the default .trigger?(), which perfectly makes sense.
Right now, I'd suggest probably vgvgf's input script, however it doesn't really make a difference at this point, as those scripts should all operate far better than what you were used to two years ago :p

Although BlueScope offered some excellent advice, I thought I might be able to add on to that. Regarding the keyboard input, there could be an issue with RMXP reading the keyboard input. (It's happened before, on rare occasions. You might want to try testing another keyboard, if you have one available)

As for BlueScope's recommendation regarding a keyboard input module, I can't help but disagree. I'm a bit biased, but the keyboard module linked to in my signature actually has all of the same features of vgvgf's AWorks input, but it doesn't require an external .dll file, it doesn't break the default Input module, and it doesn't require a lot of unnecessary code just because it's all packaged together.

._.

Mindwrap of awesomeness right there... I was thinking of some input modules I remember, and especially thought about vgvgf's input archives, and how it had me wade through 7 scripts in order to figure out what script I'd need and what not to actually get me what I need ^^ It is functional, but yeah... I really meant to suggest yours, Glitch...

thanks for the tips, but when i get that problem, only the F12 button wich shuts down the game works, all other F buttons dont do nothing at all (including the F9 debug button)

ok then, if you dont think its a software issue, i'll ask a friend of mine to lend me his keyboard for a few hours and try it out, since i'm currently using a Roccat Valo (and Lachesis as mouse) and this keyboard some times give me headaches (leds go off for days, macro buttons dont work for hours/days, etc) all random issues, so i'll test with a different one and see, i'll post again after test, for case it works, future 'Searches' on this kind issue, people see what happand

EDIT: no point post a new reply, my issue got fixed, but here the 'sollution' for possible Searches on this issue:
i tried my friend keyboard and kept same issue, so by curiusity i went to all rpg xp related .EX files (my project Game.Exe, rpg maker .exe, Graphics.exe and the default game.exe), this files are located on the maker folder and rtp folder, and made ALL them compatible win xp SP2, and been working just fine even on my keyboard, so it was just 'another' win vista issue, but solved :P
