[Resolved] Text for an enemy's special attack

Okay, so in the game I'm making the party faces an area boss monster; in this case "Forest Wolf Den Mother" (an enlarged edit of the hellhound battler). One of it's attacks is the confuse spell, but I wanted a text box to appear when the wolf casts it saying "The Den Mother lets out a piercing howl." Only problem is I can't figure out how. Anyone have any ideas as to what I should do?

All righty.... There's probably more than one way you can do this, but here's how I'd do it:

I would go into the Database and select the Troops panel first, then put in an event command for her to use that skill. Just above that, place your text for "The Den Mother lets out a piercing howl."

Now, select the Condition drop-down arrow. Use the Turn setting, and set it to how often you want her using that skill.

Hope that helps.

If you want to do it with the randomness, I can think of a couple of ways:

1: Create a "Piercing Howl" event that does nothing but call a common event.

Have that common event display the text, and then Force Action (Immediate) the Confusion skill.

(That's necessary because normally a Common Event called with a skill activates after the skill runs, which isn't what you want.)

2: You could always import the text "The Den Mother lets out a piercing howl" into the animation frames of the spell, and customize the animation for the version that the Den Mother uses. (Okay, this wouldn't work like Show Text, but I wanted to bring up the point that you can do a lot with creating custom animations.)

...

...

...am I a bad person for imagining the Den Mother letting out a piercing howl as a middle-aged housewife leading a pack of killer Cub Scouts?
