Removing an old japanese RTP.

Hey all!

I'm actually more active with VX, but I don't really like the tiles in that RTP. So I thought: Let's just nick them from RMXP, and convert them to VX? Sounds like a good plan to me, and I thought that I would have the tiles in 5 min. However, I've used RMXP earlier, and 'apparently' I have installed a japanese RTP, which I can't find anywhere on my computer, except for the configuration part and then programms, where it shows quite nicely, but where I can't delete it for some weird (japanese) error. It shows this:

. In case it didn't work: http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/341/japaneseerror.jpg

I'm using Vista, and this is actually annoying me for some time. Any help appreciated!

I'm translating now... It's kinda hard since I have to draw everything on IME pad, and it's often wrong, but this is what I have right now,: この Windows インストーラパッケージには問題があリます。 このインストールを完了するのに必要なプ囗グラ厶を, and google translate says: "The Windows installer package RIMASU Oh this is a problem.囗厶a graphics program needed to complete this installation".

Could anyone please help me? It's kinda annoying to see that people are ignoring this....... Anyway, I've thought up another way, which can be a temporarily solution: Could any of you give me all the standard XP tiles? Thanks a bunch!

Uh, did you see where it said to wait 72 hours before bumping? Complaining after three hours seems to speak of a sense of entitlement that perhaps you don't want to display.

I'm surprised to see Japanese error messages. That's the legal version of XP?

If you need the RTP files, you can download them directly from Enterbrain's site.

If you're trying to remove the old Japanese installation, you can do that, but you also have to go into the Registry. You can easily delete the files installed on your computer, which should be located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Enterbrain\RGSS\Standard. It is safe to delete it, up to the RGSS folder. If you have VX installed, it will have its RTP in an RGSS2 folder in the same location as the RGSS folder. THen, you have to go into the registry and delete the registry keys for the old installation. Got to Start, then Run. Type in regedt32 and press enter. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > Enterbrain, and delete the folder named RGSS. That should erase thew RTP from your registry.

@Unka Josh: I'm sorry, I was kinda annoyed since I'd been trying it for over 2 hours, driving me insane enough to forget that... Please forgive me, it won't be repeated. As for the legalness, I downloaded it from (I think): http://www.solarsoft.nl/rpgmaker/, but it has been changed, since there was somethinig about a original version blablabla which I thought was nice, and simply clicked it. (sorry it's in dutch, but the important stuff is at the bottom, and I'll translate them for you: from top to bottom: Download the english version of RPG maker XP
Download the RTP of RPG maker XP

Download the english version of RPG maker VX
Download the RTP of RPG maker VX

Download RPG maker 2003 v. 103 (obvious)
Download the RTP of RPG maker 2003

though probably not needed, those are my translations of it. Furthermore, I do have the normal RTP files of RMXP, but when I want to install them, they say that there's a version of the rtp already installed, and that I can delete it using configuration, which I obviously can't.

@Glitch: I followed your instuctions, but there isn't a RGSS map in Enterbrain. Only RGSS2, because I have VX installed. By the way, what do you mean with registry? is that some map in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Enterbrain ? if it is, Then I don't have it. There is some other map in Program files, named Enterbrain, wherein Action Game Maker and RPK maker VX (program, not RTP) are. the RTP (for VX) is in RGSS2, I think. Plus, when I run regedt32 and select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, there isn't a tab named software, there is only: (standard), REG_SZ, no value. (that's translated, it is actually in dutch: (standaard), REG_SZ, (geen waarde ingesteld).)

Could you help me any further? thank you!
