Reduce size of project?

Hey I´m making a game and it´s 258 MB in size...I think it´s a bit too big and it´s mainly music files that take up all space. I wonder if there are some kind of way to compress the files and reduce the size of it? Maybe a script or something?

Cool, now for my other question. Maybe it´s not possible to reduce the size of the files...but I think that you can upload compressed files, then when you download it you get a file of maybe 40 MB...then when you click on it and the files extracts into the right places it will increase to the real size. Like a game setup file....am i right? O.o

Compression wouldn't shrink 250mb to that small.

But yes, you could get it down to 210 or so.

I suggest use less music! Like I had to. My old project was 300 mb... Now it's 93 :D

Possible solutions:
1) Use a lower bitrate for your mp3s.  They'll sound more like crap if you do, though.
2) Convert your mp3s to oggs.  They'll receive around a 10% compression.  The problem is that they are not streamed in RMXP, so they must be fully loaded until they play.  RMVX allows oggs to steam, so this is a good choice for it.
3) Sequence your mp3s into MIDIs.  Sure, people will complain, but if the end result makes you happy about the project size, go for it.

Not only that, but instead of compressing game data... you could just package it into zip files
(one zip for music, graphics, other)
most MMORPGs use this style... although it's more to download, it's in smaller increments.
