After immigrating to the United States from war-torn Germany, Jaeger Stenvaag is determined to make a living for himself as a freelancer. Yet as Jaeger makes bigger deals with bigger people, he eventually finds himself caught up in a vicious power struggle that could ultimately lead to the death of millions of people.
Characters at the top of the list are the most important, while characters at the bottom are least important. ALL characters will be fully fleshed out in due time.

The events in Red Future take place in the Reihncorp Megacity Region (RMR), which is a fictional location in the USA that is mainly owned by the megacorporation known as Reihncorp. The RMR encompasses 4 different cities (also known as subsections, excluding The Core): Azure, Crimson, Magenta, and The Core. Each city has its own unique characteristics.
Azure (Subsection #2)
Azure was originally known as Aven City before Reihncorp bought the entire city and surrounding areas. However, unlike the other subsections, Azure features a large multi-corporation downtown district rather than a monopolized downtown district. Azure also has the cleanest air out of all of the subsections (including The Core).
Places of Interest:
- Jaeger's Home - Place to rest, eat, change equipment, access a computer, and listen to music.
- Mora's Home - *nothing useful as of yet...*
- APD - Azure Police Department; Offers police training, which eventually allows you to become a cop.
- Chinatown - Features various stores which sell cheap (usually imitation) products. You can also pick up some pretty good food too.
- The Mooncurser - A gritty bar which is frequented by quite a few criminals, loners, and whores (with a watchful pimp in the background). Kave is always hanging out here.
- Daimon Straights - An elaborate network of grungy apartments, alleyways, and catwalks which are home to criminals, gangs, and lower class people.
- Quiet Eyes - A popular club which is usually frequented by middle class and upper class folk; Always someone looking for a runner.
- Reihncorp Azure Arcology - Features a mall, a park, residences, a job center, and many offices.
- Unity Square - Always something going on, be it a holiday event or a corporate rally. When there's not something happening, it's a good place to get away from the crowds.
Originally a smaller industrial town on the outskirts of Aven, Crimson grew outwards rather than up, soon bordering the city. Pollution was always a major issue with Crimson, but when Reihncorp took over they built an envirodome over the city and installed a pollution control center. Unfortunately, Crimson's air is still very polluted.
Crime rates are high in Crimson, as well as poverty. The most protection you'll get is in the Teslarcorp Arcology, although you'll still have to look out for disgruntled workers.
Places of Interest:
- Teslarcorp Arcology - Features a mall, a park, residences, a job center, and corporate offices. This arcology differs from other arcologies mainly because the crowds are pretty rough, seeing as though a lot of factory workers come here to blow off steam at the Iron Hull pub. You'll surely find some tough characters at the Iron Hull, and definitely one or two who need a runner.
- West End Slums - For lack of a better term, the place is a shithole. Home to the lowest of the low and then some, the West End Slums are the last place anyone who values their wallet (or their life) wants to be.
- Factory District - If there was a real downtown for Crimson, this would be it. A labyrinth of gigantic Teslarcorp factories and a few office buildings, the area is fairly grim, with the occasional underpaid worker passing by. There are a few shops and restaurants around, but personally I would rather go to Azure for shopping and good food. At least my chances of getting mugged are lower.
- The Underground - Underground catacombs which are probably not very safe, but lead to various factories and buildings in Crimson. The Underground is connected to the sewers (which are connected to all other sewer systems in the RMR), but anyone in their right mind wouldn't travel the sewers.
Named after the daughter of the founder of Reihncorp, Magenta is a fairly safe city built from the ground up by Reihncorp and Vanterside. Home to alot of hackers, scientists, and corporate officials.
Places of Interest:
- Asteis's Apartment - I don't think Asteis ever leaves her apartment. Usually with the windows shut and the lights dimmed, her computer screen illuminates the room day & night (if there is a day & night in her place). She works as a hacker and data trafficker, usually offering good prices for data and software.
- Alain's Penthouse Suite - If Alain isn't at work, he's at home serving himself a few drinks. The place to go to get the latest info on the corporations.
- U.O.M. (University of Magenta) - This is the place to go if you want to really improve various technical and scientific skills, but it will cost you time and money.
- Vanterside Arcology - Bigger than most other arcologies, it features a mall, a park, residences, a job center, corporate offices, and various laboratories.
- Jokingly known as Reihnland.
- Primary connection between all three subsections.
- Massive downtown district littered with towering Reihncorp buildings and arcologies.
In some ways, the corporations in this game have more power than the law and the government itself, especially in Reihncorp's case. The corporations in this game are a main source of conflict, and you will most likely become involved in their grand schemes (that is, if you want to).
Reihncorp
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u41/ ... rpLogo.jpg[/IMG]
A 58 year-old corporation that obtained an incredible amount of wealth for developing Indirect Cybernetic Enhancements during the civil wars in Europe, and continues to gain money and power through the current European war.
After the European civil wars, Reihncorp bought out all of Aven City and the surrounding regions (probably just to show how powerful they were), reforming the area into the Reihncorp Megacity Region. While quite a few people are skeptical about Reihncorp's "good" intentions, the company does offer a multitude of career paths and job opportunities, from the sciences to fast-food restaurants. If Reihncorp were to go under, over half of the people in the RMR would become unemployed.
Aside from the police forces, they are steadily building up a military-like force. Reihncorp claims that this is for the protection of the people.
Teslarcorp
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u41/ ... rpLogo.jpg[/IMG]
Teslarcorp is only 18 years old, and yet the company is worth quite a lot. Why? Because its focus is manufacturing every single thing a person needs, putting out many quality (and essential) products such as universal ammunition, universal attachments, FVs (flying vehicles), service bots, weaponry, certain affiliate products, etc.
There have been rumors that Teslarcorp has been trying to sabotage Reihncorp facilities and even kill corporate officials, but all accusations have been denied.
Vanterside Inc.
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u41/ ... deLogo.jpg[/IMG]
While Reihncorp may be the leader, and Teslarcorp may build your home, Vanterside outsmarts both of them. The company is relatively new; Roughly 8 years old, yet has become a scientific & technological juggernaut. The company is known for developing state-of-the-art technology and has found quite a few cures for different diseases & illnesses.
How did they become so big so fast? When they bought out Anko Inc. (the original technological powerhouse), taking over all rights to their products and projects.
Cybernetic Enhancements (CEs)
These are mechanical components that enhance physical and mental ability by either:
There are two types of CEs:
DCEs take effect immediately, improving anything from intelligence to reflexes to eyesight (depending on the DCE). DCEs generally tend to improve mental capacity over physical.
Once removed, all of the effects of the DCE quickly fade away.
Most ICEs tend to improve physical capacity over mental, centering around reparation, maintenance, and improving the human body.
Effects usually wear off in 12 to 24 hours.
These are mechanical components that enhance physical and mental ability by either:
- Altering/stimulating the central nervous system; sending electronic messages to the brain.
OR
- Repairing, maintaining, and improving muscles, brain cells, bones, nerve endings, and healing various internal and external injuries.
There are two types of CEs:
1. Direct Enhancement (Type I CE)
Direct Cybernetic Enhancements (DCEs) are usually small pieces of hardware which resemble a computer processor. They are inserted into ports located at the temples and/or at the back of the head. One must have a port and DCE that are compatible with each other (although universal ports are already in development) in order to use the DCE properly.DCEs take effect immediately, improving anything from intelligence to reflexes to eyesight (depending on the DCE). DCEs generally tend to improve mental capacity over physical.
Once removed, all of the effects of the DCE quickly fade away.
2. Indirect Enhancement (Type II CE)
Indirect Cybernetic Enhancements (ICEs; not to be confused with Intrusion Countermeasures Electronics) usually come in pill form which contain nanobots (microscopic robots). Once ingested, an ICE can take from one to two hours to take full effect. Most ICEs tend to improve physical capacity over mental, centering around reparation, maintenance, and improving the human body.
Effects usually wear off in 12 to 24 hours.
Red Future will be an open-ended, non-linear game. You can either choose to follow the plot or do whatever the hell you want.
Jobs/Making MoneyIf you want to get anywhere in the game, you're going to need money. Now there's a ton of different ways you'll be able to earn money in this game, so I'm going to try to cover as many as possible.
- Finding Money - People tend to drop their money a lot, especially in places where there's a lot of shops. You'll most likely be able to find anywhere from $1 to $1000 just lying around. Obviously you're more likely to find $1 rather than $1000, but hey, you never know...
- Body Shops - Short on cash? Don't really care for your pancreas or nose? Just sell it off. Body Shops will buy your organs/limbs/other body parts and replace it with a cheap, synthetic prosthesis. There's no guarantees that the prosthetic will last longer than your original body part, but if you become really worried you can always buy it back (for a higher price than you sold it for, of course).
- Killing Random Civilians - While this usually gets you a lot of attention (mostly unwanted attention), if you hit the right person you can end up with some serious dough. Just pick your targets carefully and make sure you don't get caught.
- Runs - To put it simply, runs are errands that one can do to earn a quick buck. They can involve a number of different objectives, from delivering "special" packages to escorting people across dangerous territory. There are also cyber-runs, which involve hacking into mainframes, computers, etc. and either downloading, uploading, and/or corrupting data or crashing their system and whatnot.
Runs are mainly an underground thing, seeing as though they usually involve illegal activities. Although corporations like Reihncorp have been known to employ runners (someone who makes a living out of doing runs), whether those runners performed illegal activities is completely unknown.
- Hits - Killing a person always pays more than going on a run, but is infinitely more dangerous (hence the increased pay). These usually require a lot of skill with a gun, good charisma, and a good eye, seeing as though employers won't always give you a picture of the person they want dead (or a good description for that matter), mostly specifying when and where. The rest is up to you.
- A Legal Job - Anything that you won't get in shit for; i.e. a normal job.
- Hacking and Stealing Data (also see "Data Trafficker") - Company databases are rich with valuable data, and hacking & stealing those files could earn you more money than hits and runs could ever offer. Just make sure you've got the skills to do it, or else ICEs (Intrusion Countermeasures Electronics) will fry your computer.
- Data Trafficker - Ok, so you're not a great hacker. So what? You can still buy and sell data, making profit off selling a file that you bought for cheap. You just have to learn where there are good deals to be made. This can involve alot of searching.
I'm a terrible scripter, so I'll be (reluctantly) using other people's scripts until I improve my own skills. Don't worry, I'll give credit.
