Recommeded Antivirus?

Just a question. What antivirus/antispyware programs do you use/recommend?

I'm usin' norton.....which sucks...and spybot.

Nothing...I mean nothing, can beat that program. It will find, destroy (and if it can't destroy the virus the first time around, it will at reboot) any virus that comes onto your computer. It will also protect your computer from Network Attacks. It isn't free but you can download the free trial.

EDIT: IN FACT, it is SO good, that Iolo Technologies bundles it up with System Mechanic Professional 6 <<< the best computer maintenance tool available.

I use AntiVir which seems to detect alot of files that I never even knew existed which have VERY questionable contents...

Clamwin Anti Virus or AVG Antivirus. Both of these you can get free. You can get clamwin off sourxceforge.net and AVG by typing into to google AVG Anti Virus Free.

NOD32 or Kaspersky.

I use NOD32. It's uberfast and doesn't eat your PC alive like Norton. It also find eeeeverything.

NOD32 (Anti-virus)+ Ad-aware (adware) + Windows Defender (spyware) + Sygate (firewall) + Opera (browser) = You're safe. Even from cruise missiles.

Check out stinger. It's free and regulary updated. Although it's pretty shit in that it doesn't cover every virus, just the main ones.

The thing I REALLY don't like about norton is it has this habit of slowing down my comp. And....it horribly ineffective at times.
Example: A friend who used only Norton had comp troubles, and couldn't fix it with norton. I send some links to some freeware, and....poof. 45 viruses.

Yes Norton is a piece of shit. I used to have that anti-virus program and the viruses actually went and infected it. So much for security.

PC Cillin and/or AVG

Norton is horrible, let me count the ways!

1: Lags your PC and sucks your RAM.
2: attempts to install a virus if you try/succeed in uninstalling Norton.
3: Has a monthly fee!
4: Updates cost money!?
5: Upgrades cost money to!?

Common sense. If you don't download things that'd have spyware/viruses in them, you don't need one.

I haven't had any problems with Norton (though I wouldn't have paid for it if it didn't come with my computer for free). That thing about putting a virus on when it's uninstalled true? I know some of the other programs for this do that..

I haven't had any problems with Norton

Norton isnt Bad but there sinces are better ones+prices.
It true enough it will cause problem sooner or later once the 1 year is over :P.

Recommendations for Antivirus

AVG:- Does the job perfectly...no more to say!
Macaffee:- The perfect antivirus but slows down pc.
Sophos:- Mehhh mediocre
Microsoft Defender:- Its not exactly an Antivirus its more of an advanced Firewall

Recommendations for Anti-Spyware

Microsoft Anti-spyware:- This is the best i'd say by far and its free :D

Norton Antivirus:- Bag of bollucks..you honestly cant tell its working..just dont even think about it!

Honestly, if you don't mind paying for it and know what the hell you are doing with it, Norton's is perfectly fine. I never had it slow down my computer or even use more then 1% of my processor time or any substancial amount of RAM. When I installed it it destroyed my network for a while, but that was because of its crazed security protocols.

Nowadays I use AVG Free and Windows Defender Beta II.
