[Reason 4] How can I view notes on the piano-roll?

Hey guys, I just posted this question on the Erol Akon forums looking for help but I thought maybe one of you might know the answer as well!

Anyways, I have looked up tutorials and stuff and generally know how to get around the program to do things I want it to do but I've always had a problem that I can't seem to solve.

-How can I view the notes on the piano-roll?

If your confused by what I am saying let me try to clear some things up. Ok, so lets say your in ableton live and your creating a pattern, you can hover over the key and it tells you what note/key it is (C-D-E-F-G-A...)

Yet if you use the sequencer in Reason, there is no indication of what each key is in the piano roll.

Can anyone help me with this? I'm sure its probably something extremely simple and easy and I'm just missing it completely (and probably looking like a fool...) but anyways any input would be much appreciated!

if you mean the lines then it shouldnt give you any audio because those are not notes.

also, reason is a tad more adv. and if you dont know basic piano semantics you should brush up before diving into it. cubase doesnt do that either, nor does sonar.

If you're having trouble, you could just look at the C's on the side and count up for the rest of the notes (D, E, F, G, etc).

Looks like the shaded rows are the black keys, the sharps and flats. That's why there's not a shaded row between B and C.

Basically this.

Even though it doesnt specifically pop up the note, its still incredibly easy to tell. The c's are give to you, and even if they wouldnt be given, it would be easy, if you know that the musical scale goes from a-g, with some sharps inbetween.. When you're placing a note, the line you are hovering it in will probably highlight, so it'll be even easier to check.

If not, you might want to zoom in a bit. Currently you're viewing 4 octaves. maybe if you zoom in the view will change?
there should also be an option to switch from seeing the piano to seeing the notes, if im not mistaken.

And I'm not a pianist so I don't know much about anything other then the simple scale (but I'm learning!). I had a feeling that the 'C's were notes but since it was only C I thought it was just an indication to octave.

I have looked around for that because I really need that function but I couldn't find it, but I'm sure its something right under my nose just like this problem hehe. Any idea exactly where this button is? I've been clicking stuff for the past 20 minutes with no avail.

maybe like i said, when you zoom out/in?
most of the times the shortkey for that is ctrl+scroll or alt+scroll, (or cmd+scroll for macs)

I do not have a keybord, nor do I know how to use one =(

So far I have been making simple beats by using piano roll and using my computer keys with midikeys.

But yeah a few tutorials would be simply amazing
