Random shutdowns

I'm kind of getting sick of this, and I don't really know the problem, so I thought I'd post here - maybe someone could be of help.

My problem persists when I try and run a game; for example - morrowind. Now, it'll play fine for ten-fiteen minutes, and then out of nowhere, the computer will randomly shut it self down. No 'shut down' screen, nothing. Just turns off, and reboots itself.

I just noticed that it'll do that to RPG Maker XP when I try and play my own game, however it will NOT if I'm just running the maker.

Does this have something to do with a type of virus or something? Is there something wrong with the fans, I.E. my computer overheating?

Any ideas?

It's kind of hard to tell, but really it sounds like your computer is overheating. Get some temperature monitoring software, almost all motherboards report the CPU temps. If your CPU is getting above 80,90,100 celcius, it's running waaaay too hot. (Over 80 is a problem, over 90 is an emergency and over 100 is a fire hazard.)

I had this problem with my husband's PC, it turned out to be a problem with the graphics card's driver. Downloading a patch stopped it.

If it only happens during a game, then I'd do as ccoa suggested and trying to reinstall your old drivers or download the newest drivers for your graphics card.

I've had this problem before, and I did until last sunday. Replace the power supply in your computer. That should fix it if it is indeed the problem I had for such a long time.

Awesome Bro

I still have this problem and it's slowly pushed me away from playing games. In the long-run, it's a good thing because i spend all my computer time doing the arty things with time that would usually be spent on fy_poolday.
