Questions about RMVX MIDI device

I would like to learn more about RMVX MIDI device.

1. How does it technically works? How are MIDIs handled in RMVX?

2. Is everyone hear the same MIDI output when a song is played through RMVX?

3. I would like to compose music tracks with a sequencer. The problem is that my soundcard produce a different sound than when it’s played in RMVX, my question is: is there a way to use the sound device from RMVX when composing with a software? Otherwise it would be time-consuming to import a track in RM to test the result, it would be better to hear it live with a sequencer.

Thank you!

Unfourtunately I can only answer your second question:

I'm no genius, but I've gone through several computers in my life, (not to mention several ASCII RPG Makers) and they all had different soundcards. While .wav, mp3 files, etc. are essientally recordings, MIDI files (from my understanding) takes a set of "instruments" that comes with your soundcard and tells them how to play a song. Hence the reason why if you pause a midi song in the middle, and then resume it, some of the instruments will not play for about a second. (Because you cut it off in the middle so it has to "start" again sorta speak.) Now because it's instruments and not just a recording, the audio is limited to what instruments your soundcard has for it's MIDI support. Taking the same song, what plays as a guitar on one soundcard may sound a tad different on another, like a more heavy or lighter guitar. I'm not positive, but it may also be a different instrument altogether, like a flute or a trumpet.

As far as why RMVX changes what the MIDI sounds like, I have no idea. I've tried all the RPG makers since RPG95, and none of them changed the way MIDI sounds. (Only when I got a new computer and thus had a new soundcard did it change.) I barely touched RMVX and didn't really bother listening to music with it since I was so disgusted on what was removed. (For better or worse.)
