PSX sound effect extracting?

how does one do it exactly? i found a utility that only seemed to give me the sounds of the notes of the music in the game. I'm specifically looking to get my hands on the xenogears sound effects.

if anyone can help me get to extract the sound effects myself i have a pretty large library of psone games i could extract the soundfx from.

suikoden 1&2
lunar 1&2
alundra
xenogears
front mission 3

just to name a few. :blink02:

just download the rom from somewhere online and extract the audio files from them separately.

I did that with old school sega cd games today.

Well, with songs, not for individual sound effects. But it might work.

If i get a GD dimerit for this im quitting.

What the hell is a GD demerit? Also as long as you own the game it's pretty much fine, as there's legitimate software that lets you rip an image of a game anyways (I've done it myself with final fantasy tactics and some others to keep copies that I couldn't get stolen or damaged).

But yeah I have no idea how to do this, bunktown's idea seems reasonable, but I don't think that a lot of games would store all their sound effects like that.
