Welcome to HBGames, a leading amateur game development forum and Discord server. All are welcome, and amongst our ranks you will find experts in their field from all aspects of video game design and development.
Please do not flame. I have been searching on the internet, just out of curiosity, if there was an EBOOT that was compatible with RPG Maker XP. I understand that there is already an EBOOT for previous RPG Maker versions supporting 2000 and 2003 under the name of "Easy RPG".
According to a post on this forum, linked below, there is an EBOOT that supports RPG Maker XP. Originally mentioned in a post by Tdata, the EBOOT known as "RMXPCP" for the RPG Maker XP is capable to run the homebrew games "rather well" as I am assuming, it has the capability to run the games at decent, playable fps. I am wondering if anyone on here know any of its whereabouts or can provide me a link. Perhaps even direct me in the right direction.
I don't see why anyone would flame you for this. That being said, I remember doing a search for that eboot shortly after tdata made that post. After hours of fruitless searching, I ended up concluding that the folder name was probably some sort of accidental misspelling of "RMXP PSP", or that is was potentially something to the effect of "RM X PSP".
The only results on google for "RMXPCP" are this forum unfortunately. I'd suggest googling rmxp psp eboot, if it doesn't find anything, it probably doesn't exist. Something that important would be indexed.
It seems like a dream for people to be able to play their RMXP games on DS or PSP or Wii Homebrew or something, I'm left wondering why no-one has done it yet. I'm sure there are people out there, maybe we should come up with a communal fund for a reward for whoever can create like an eboot or something for RMXP.

pretty much this, the ones who know how to do it and ACTUALLY do are the ones who must not know any programming language or knew just enough to get the RPG Maker game ported to PSP
Ive seen 2003 games on psp and I actually asked a friend who ported one why he didnt just commercialize it as a PC standalone game and he responded "he didnt know how" :/

To conclude and further promote this search we can rule out that the eboot is was either unofficially titled as RMXPCP or just a Beta Name at the time. So general searching keywords such as EBOOT and PSP would help. Using RMXP doesnt sufficiently search the internet as the program is also referenced as RPG Maker XP.

The PSP scene is nearly dead these days in comparison to the Nintendo DS, PS3 and 360. The homebrew scene for it faded away around 2008. Numerous psp hombrew sites that may of contained the file on their server must of gone down years ago, which is why it is no longer indexed. Domains that are down are usually completely unindexed from the internet within 2 weeks to a month after the domain has been removed.

Well there are several reason why. Besides the fact that repackaging a whole new library for the handheld devides to read the generated code, its because the code is actually to complex for the PSP at its stage. EBOOTs are simply like parsers that translate the coding, and simplify it so that the handheld can run the code. That being said, engines such as RPG Maker or Game Maker at its current stage cannot be ported to the handheld devices as easily is because the coding is inefficient and messy. The EBOOTS clean up the messy coding, (not really, but just for the explanation).

Actually I am experienced in C++ programming and a few other coding languages like LUA and JASS which are useless in our case. I would actually code my homebrew games in C++ as I would normally do but the PSP Libraries are not as refined as the PA Lib for DS or PS3's PSLight Lib. For those of you who dont know, libraries are what make the coding fairly simple referencing these libraries. As many of you know, coding your own library isnt as easy as only coding the C++ with premade libraries.
That makes sense. We cant assume that some of the PSP Homebrew sites active are all in english. A third of the PSP and PS3 hacking scene are actually in Spanish. Ill try out that EBOOT.PBP Anyways why not use google translate? I have the file downloaded right now, but Im not sure if its against the rules to upload the file. Can I get a confirmation from a Mod so we can index it? (; http://translate.google.com/translate?j ... a-pspsuper
EDIT: I have downloaded the EBOOT but after reading the translater google version of the first post it requires Ruby knowledge, or a simple copy and paste from he Ruby scripts in RPG Maker XP. Below is a tutorial on how to make the EBOOT emulate your games from RMXP properly.
Tutorial: Formatting your RMXP Game for the EBOOT.PBP
The Eboot.pbp is Royou, a port that allows Ruby Scripting to be emulated on the PSP. Sadly, Royou will need to be recompiled in conjunction with the RMXP RGGS Lib in order to play RM games on the psp.
Below is an Old Description, please ignore as I am leaving it for indexing purposes.
Please Note:The programmer of the EBOOT states that you PSP will need 5.0 M33,
otherwise it may lock your psp. I have not yet tested this as I am on 6.35 PRO B, a newer custom firmware, but it should work regardless as mine is on a newer custom firmware/cfw. I will test it later today when I have the time. DISCLAIMER:Moderators on the website of the original post state that the script is false as there was no proof. However a reliable member of HBGames.org, Tdata, has claimed and states an EBOOT such as the one below to be a valid file. Please use at your own risk.
Step One: Make a RMXP Game Step Two: Put the game Folder into your PSP as followes X:/PSP/Game/(RMXP Game Folder) Step Three: Delete the Project Edit File (Game.rxproj) and the Launcher (Game.exe) found in step Two Step Four: Add the EBOOT.PBP in the same directory found in Step Two Step Five: Open Notepad and copy the Ruby Scripts generated from RMXP into it. Save the notepad file making sure it is renamed to the folder name of your project as referred in Step Two. Ie. "test.rb" if the folder name is "test".
What I meant to say is, the actual support for the PSP Library is dead... In contrast to the past, the PSP Scene is fading, not dead; however, the PSP Library is dead. There has been no updates for a while. This reflects why the homebrew is fading away for it. Luckily the NGP will come out, hopefully with a Nintendo DS Emulator with its new CPU Processor. The DS Emu for the NGP will definitely spark the community.

Thanks for all the useful instructions here asdfADRIAN, someone who's got a PSP and some balls, please try this out. I have balls, but no PSP sadly.
asdfADRIAN any idea if something like this could work for Wii Homebrew?
As for Wii homebrew, I cannot say. I do not know much about the Wii. If the Wii is powerful enough, and runs via Executables such as how PSP's EBOOTs are relative to .EXEs on windows, then yes. All that would be needed is to recode the ruby library for a Wii Executable.
NGP is the next confirmed handheld for the PSP. The acronym stands for Next Generation Portable. It is announced to release around November of 2011.
UPDATE:
I have tested it on the PSP and it turns out that it wont "Lock/Brick" your PSP. The Eboot is completely safe. The EBOOT.pbp is actually known as "Joyou" or Jewel. This is a port for Ruby Scripts (.rb). Even though RMXP uses Ruby Scripts, it still will not work on the PSP. First we need to translate the entire .DLL of RPGMaker XP so that the PSP can understand the driver. Once that is done, we would need to recode the entire Library of the Ruby RGSS.
That being said, this alone will not directly run your games, as I assumed. This is still possible. The work is half way done and needs the lib and rgss driver to be recoded. Only then can RPGMAKER XP run on the PSP.
But the sighting of an Eboot confirmed by Tdata makes me assume that such a file already exists on the internet.
