Project Insomnia - Updated Story Outline 2-11-12

Project Insomnia, working title and aptly named for the fact I've been working on this game from midnight to 5am every night for the three weeks.

Platform- RMXP

STORY
Game is going to be divided into two parts, the first part of the game will take place in a single town. Therefore, this town and it's NPCs are going to be highly detailed and fleshed out. The NPCs will reflect the ongoing story arc and exhibit personal growth.

During the first portion of the game the player character will enroll in Academy, by attending player chosen classes the character will gain appropriate stat bonuses and unlock side quests. (Want to build a mage? Attend magic workshops and mathematics, building a warrior then take sparring and history etc.) All tution must be paid for, and some classes will cost more than others. To earn money the character will also have to take on part time jobs, and fulfill side quests.

At this point in the game the player will also be introduced to possible party members, and a central character. Their relationship will be established as perform quests together. At some point, either once the player has reached a set level or a certain amount of school time has passed the party will be forced to leave school and embark on a journey. Toying with the idea of war, and having the central character be a person of political importance. Either the player character vows to return her to her homeland safely, or I may kill her off as the player sets off to extract his vengeance.

Notes: This is my first RPG Maker Project. My only other experience with the program is RPGM2k3 over 10 years ago when I briefly attempted to convert Shining in the Darkness, a Genesis Dungeon Crawlers, to an overhead Dragon Quest clone. So pretty much every step of the way is a learning experience for me. :)

Thank you. I know RTP is generally frowned upon, but as a one man team I've got to work with what I have.

Working out portrait solutions. Currently thinking about going with heavily modified VXAce generated faces. Keeps with my style of "prettified RPT" and well it's faster than drawing it all from scratch. In any case, I think I'd like the portrait to display above the text box like so:
