Priorities and Sprites

Hey everyone,
I wanted to create a script in RMXP, where if the player is beneath a tile (priority in the database), The part of the player's sprite you can't see anymore would be coloured gray-purple-black-ish.
Like this:

or zoomed in:

My problems/questions are:
-I'm a new scripter with only little knowledge of RGSS
-How do you manipulate/edit the player's sprite?
-How do you check which pixels of the player's sprite are beneath the tile with priority?

I'd greatly appreciate if someone would help me out here.

While I'm not entirly sure that you would be able to do exactly what you are asking. You could no doubt make it so when the player is under a tile the whole tile which the player sprite is on could turn into another colour but I'm not really sure you could make the exact parts of the sprite change.

As to your first problem its nice that you are picking such a challenging script to begin with but rather than driving right into something like this you might want to try other things, I'd highly recommend the menu system for starters. It can provide a huge amount of skills that become handy in later scripting.

As to your second problems you might want to hunt about in the scripts to the way it handles a player standing on a large grass tile, where the little area of green overlaps the players sprite. It might give you the basis to produce your script.

Hope I've managed to help a little.

Yea, I made myself two CMS's and a Title Screen, and I thought: Let's do something more challenging. I have some scripting knowledge, but I don't see myself as an advanced scripter :P

It's actually great that there's such a scritp out there, it saves me a lot of work ;P
I'm having a look at it right now.

As for Neo: I already started thinking this would be pretty impossible, but I'm also thinking of another solution.
Maybe you could replace the parts of the sprite that are covered with the same sprite, but then coloured.
But if that doesn't work, this is just fine for me.
