hey I just noticed that for all the talk about the big erection, we don't even have a general topic on it!!!

There's not really much going on that most of you don't know, but to sum things up: this is probably one of the biggest presidential erections in history. On one hand we have senator Barack Obama, who is an African American and will likely be the first black president in America's history. On the other side is John MccAin whose running mate is Sarah Palin who he pretty much chose for the "first woman vicepresident" thing to try and counterbalance obama being a black guy!

i mean it's pretty obvious what my bias is (GOBAMA) but let's have some discussion about this really big presidential erection. voting is very soon (like next weeok!!!) so make sure that you all do the one thing that is asked of you as american citizens and vote!!

Congrats, you're thinking exactly the way Fox News and other heavy right-wing pundits want you to think. Obama is not a muslim, he is not a terrorist, he is not a SECRET KENYAN, and he is not going to ransack your village and slaughter children in the night.

Why should it even matter if he is (against all odds) a muslim or a kenyan or a blax? I have gotten so tiredof people working this angle and have concluded that anyone who buys into this bullshit is a bigot who's too lazy to actually follow the issues.

If you're going to speak against either presidential candidate, I'm going to ask you to do it based on stuff that would matter in the event of inauguration -- the issues, the candidate's ability to perform, etc. Not artificial media bullshit about how Obama rhymes with Osama and McCain has (wait what bullshit have they been saying about McCain? I forget?)

Because right now you've got me convinced that you're part of what's fundamentally wrong with the american voting public.

As far as the election goes(and it doesn't matter coming from me because I'm under 18 and canadianheh,) I'm for Obama. I would have been satisfied with either Obama or McCain in the earlier days of the election. As republicans go, McCain was probably my favourite out of all of them. His campaign office, though, ruined him; they converted his image into a Classic Aging Republican and changed the game plan to a decidedly less sporting one in order to offset the damage that caused. Attack ads don't turn me off a candidate (it's an erectiontime tradition) but I wasn't very impressed that McCain's campaign started slinging mud at Obama every which way just so that McCain himself could be the Not So Bad After All Guy when the debates came around. When he picked Palin, that clinched it for me. She didn't do a very smashing job in Alaska, and it seems like she's not even paying attention to the issues; if you weren't following the debates, it seemed her major strategy was to shimmy around the subject a little and disguise the fact that on occasions she didn't know anything about the subject at hand.

It put me off Obama quite a bit early on during the whole public funding thing, but as a whole I still think he'd be better for the country than someone who chose a vice-president not to complement his weak points but to rope in voters (that is such a horrible mistake to make I hope that he actually had some reasons besides the "hey let's rope in the frustrated hillary supporters! feminists will always put having a vagina in office before their political alignment and having a qualified candidate!")

His father was an economics student from Nairobi, his mother a white American. They divorced when Obama was young, and his father returned to Kenya. Obama was raised by his mother until about age 10, when his maternal grandmother in Honolulu took him in.

His father was a Kenyan of the Luo tribe. His mother was white and born in Kansas. She and her parents moved to Hawaii, and that is where she attended college. With regard to his maternal grandmother taking him in: according to Obama's memoir, his mother had been home schooling him in Indonesia with an American correspondence course, in addition to his attending local Indonesian schools. When the correspondence course was completed, his mother asked her parents to let him come live with them so that he could get a good American education. He moved to Hawaii and met the academic requirements to attend an exclusive private school. His grandmother went to work for the first time to pay for his tuition.

And anyway race doesn't really matter for shit. All I care about are their platforms. I don't like the democratic agenda when it comes to finances or [most of] their military strategies, however McCain has proven to be roughly the same as Bush in the vast majority of his votes (conservative socially and liberal financially, my worst enemy), so really the lesser of two evils for me is Obama, since atleast with him I wouldn't be worrying so much about a massively conservative christian view warping the opportunities of gay rights, womens' rights, and stem cell research.
