[PPC] Jake (eebit) vs. Dr. Jigoro (Gman)

          Pokémon Pro Circuit
              Jake vs. Dr. Jigoro

Jake had checked his stratagies over mentally at least 50 times. He was sure he had it down to a T. He was hoping that he wouldn't lose his first battle, but this was bigger than the Sinnoh League and the Hoenn League combined. His opponent was Dr. Jigoro, a man who was known to be unpredictable.

"And now, at 18 years old, hailing from Mossdeep City, the son of the fan favourite Kit Goodheart, everyone welcome Jake Goodheart to the tournament!" the announcer's voice boomed from outside the small room that he was resting in. He tied on his trademark bandana and jogged out onto the stadium. The crowd roared as he flashed a smile and waved. He stared into the chamber opposite to the one he came out of.

“Entering now! The famed, and crowd pleasing Dr. Jigoro Kano!” The Announcer’s voice blared over the intercom system of the stadium.

"He is hailing all the way from Ever Grande City! Competing not only in his own name, but the name of the Kano family as a whole! He has been known to use his father's well established Hitmonlee, which always causes the fans to go wild. He is a hard set man, with a definite plan, and I'm sure he is bringing every thing to the table he's got for this match!" the announcer followed up with, while a door began to open, allowing the contestant to step through.

It was a bright day. No chance of rain. The stadiums enjoyed these days, for then the massive overhead screen could remain open. When it was cloudy, or possibly about to rain the screen would be shut as to not accidentally tip the battles against certain types or Pokemon, a.k.a rock.

An elderly man slowly walks out of the opposing side of the stadium with a gleeful smile planted firmly on his defined face. The crowd goes wild as he staggers towards the ring. He slowly reaches under his slightly sagging Pokemon shirt, from back in his prime when he was much more muscular. Grabbing at three small red and white balls containing practically a perfect personification of his life’s endeavors thus far, he rolls them around in his palm, then throws two up in the air to be caught by the other hand while enlarging the remaining one with the click of a button.

His smile fades as he reaches the ring, and stares upon his opponent. Another young competitor… “This should be an easy match” he thinks to himself.

The sun glares off of the small ball while he brings it back down to his waist. He then makes a hand gesture as if telling jake to "bring it". He then waits for the cocky youngster to make the first move.

Jake saw his opponent for the first time out of a picture. He seemed older than what all of his research had showed him. He decided not to think too much of it, because with age comes wisdom. He shrugged, not knowing what to think. He dropped his eyes to his Pokeballs and thought to himself.

"Which Pokemon should I use? He might counter me if I use anything..." He looked up and scanned the crowd. Then he saw his father and the ex-champion of the Hoenn league, Steven, sitting in front row seats. Steven waved, and Jake chose the Pokemon Steven himself gave him.

"Go, Metagross!" He plucked the sphere out of the case and threw it towards his opponent. It revealed the contained Metagross. The sphere bounced back like a boomerang and Jake caught it reflexively.

In his front row seats, Steven smiled to himself, as if he knew that Jake would send the Pokemon that he gave him out first. Jake cautiously watched for anything in the old man's eyes...

Dr. Jigoro watched cautiously as he saw the Metagross appear.

"It appears Jake has chosen Metagross! A strong first pick! I wonder what Jigoro will pull out of his arsenal to compete with this solid first choice!"

Then looking back at his opponent he saw Jake staring back. Possibly for a reaction? "Haha, does he think I may be suprised or something?" Jigoro remarked to himself under his breathe. Then as if to please the young kid he winked.

Once exchanging that simple intimidation technique Jigoro took a quick 360 examining the crowd. They were yelling all at once becoming a conglomerate of inaudible yelps and frenzied cries.

By the time he had finished the 360 he had placed the 2 un-enlarged balls back under his shirt, and had raised the final one up into the air. jovially tossing it out into the arena with not much force it split open revealing a glowing mass of energy that zapped onto the field quickly morphing into a large yet agile looking Hariyama [Orange Fist]

"Oh wow! A Hariyama! Jigoro has been training that thing since before it had even evolved I've heard. Not exactly his Hitmonlee, but still an impressive Pokemon, and accompanied by an impressive trainer! Ooh! and It seems both contestants are super effective against eachother! This should provide for a very excellent beginning to our match!"

Jigoro let out a loud belly laugh, although no one could hear it over the crowd, it must have had some effect on his opponent. The smile returned from before, except this time even larger. Orange Fist happened to be super-effective against Metagross.

Dr. Jigoro thoroughly knew the consequences and benefits of his choice. He was super-effective, as well as Metagross being super-effective against him. But Jigoro had trained with Orange fist all his life, and was confident the type would hardly matter in the end. After all. Hariyama's were known for stopping trains with their bare arms.

Jake was surprised to see the old man send out a Hariyama. Metagross may very well be part Steel type, but it was also part Psychic type, which is super-effective against Hariyama, a Fighting type.

"Oh well, his loss." he said to himself, as the old man winked at him. "Alright, Metagross! Use Calm Mind to start us off!" he shouted, as the referee signalled for the start of the battle. He knew Calm Mind would give him an edge for this part of the battle. He smirked, as he awited his opponent's move...

As soon as the battle had been signaled to start, on time, which was very uncommon at these events, Jigoro quickly began to call out his opening strike.

“Orange Fist! Use Bulk up! Let’s get the energy flowing shall we!” He called out at his powerful looking Pokemon.

Orange Fist began to bend his body into an almost body builder pose, then began to flex. His muscles rippled with force as they compacted and tensed. His strength rose as he prepared himself in all aspects with the simple yet amazing technique.

“Calm mind? Ha! My opponent has at least a little idea about what he is doing I guess. It’s always good to get your Pokemon into full tilt before initiating any major moves.” He thought to himself. But there was no time to be wasted in a pro battle. He began calling out another move.

“Quickly! Use Cross Chop!” He exclaimed as quickly as possible.

Orange Fist Suddenly shot out of his tensed position towards the Metagross. Proving his agility to be great indeed he reached the opposing Pokemon in very little time. A firm chop from one of Orange Fists mighty hands soon landed itself across the Metagross.

“The first hit is made! This is a dual technique; if the next blow lands it will provide Dr. Jigoro a major advantage throughout the match!”

Orange Fist’s next strike came down hard towards Metagross. The cumbersome Pokemon attempted to draw back from the secondary strike, but luckily simply couldn’t outrun Orange Fist’s quick blows. The next Chop came down equally hard. This time Sending the Metagross to the ground.

“Haha! I shall pummel it before it even gets a chance to move!” Jigoro thought.

”Oh my lord! The strikes have sent Jake’s Metagross to the ground! That was definitely a critical hit! As well as super effective! Talk about an early lead for Dr. Jigoro. How can Jake get out of this situation?”

“Quick! Before it rises! Use Dynamic Punch!”
Jigoro said as he leaned forward getting into the battle. His old bones shook with anticipation. The move he had just chosen was infamous for missing, but with the Metagross in a position with such an obvious movement disadvantage it was sure to hit.

"Alright, Metagross! Get moving! Use Confusion to force him back!" Jake shouted. The cituation was grave, and it looked as though Metagross was going down hard... Suddenly, Metagross radiated purple waves, and the moment they came in contact with Orange Fist, it lost all control over what it was doing.

"Incredible! Metagross has made Orange Fist forget what it was doing!" The annoncer boomed over an unseen speaker.

Jake thought to himself; "Right where I want you..." and awaited his opponent's next move.

That attack was super-effective folks! Amazing! Jake has made the perfect choice of moves to deflect all additional attacks from Orange Fist! Seems he isn't far under at all. Some fast acting could even still give him the early lead!
Blazed the announcers voice.

An eruption of pain burst through Orange fists mind as he staggered backwards away from his position over Metagross. As well as he became thouroghly confused. The move had, had full effect, not to mention been amplified in damage due to the type advantage.

Jigoro barely minded the announcer at this point in his career. Before he would listen intensely, but now it was simply extra noise added to the crowd. He knew what was happening. Who needed an extra voice attempting to explain it?

"It's for the audience I suppose" He remarked to himself.

He himself actually had been an announcer before, drafted into a local tournament for his sharp eye for techniques, and good reputation, so he was being a mild hypocrite, considering he enjoyed the job. It was entertaining after all, and got the position holder an excellent view of all of the happenings during the match. He continued to think about how his remark was ill placed, until  he quickly snapped to his senses and proceeded to bring his thoughts back to the match.

"Idiot! Time is moves! Moves are HP! HP is victory!" He yelled at himself remember his harsh training. Which sadly was getting harder and harder to remember due to his age.

"Quick Orange Fist! Use bulk up again! It will snap you back to your senses, or at least make you less vulnerable to an attack in your state!" Jigoro hollered at his teetering Pokemon.

He had used this technique before, removing what the opponent had once thought a great advantage in barely any time with a simple move. "Will it work this time?" He pondered, intent on the match.

Jake continued to think about the stratagy he reviewed. Dr. Jigoro was known to be unpredictable, so he decided to go for some offense. That meant he needed all the power he could get. But perhaps one hit could knock it down. He decided to go with a stronger move...

"OK, Metagross! Use Zen Headbutt!" he shouted to his Pokemon. Of course, the well-trained Metagross rushed the teetering Pokemon, knocking it down. It seemed to just lie there. Jake was almost sure that it wouldn't get up. But he was prepared on the odd chance that it did get up...
