[PPC] Ivan VS Shynx (4Star vs Ninjitsu)

Pokemon Pro Circuit
Season 1

While the announcers talk the day away, Ivan strolls into the stadium wondering if he forgot anything to do before the match. Unable to remember he shruggs it off and enters the stadium. "Our first challenger for today is a veteran Pokemon trainer from Blackthorn City in the Johto region... "Crazy" Ivan Von Hector," exclaims the announcer. Ivan looks accross the stadium, ignoring the blaring cheers of the crowd, (stadium battles are nothing new to him) and stares down the opposite side awaiting his opponent.

((OOC: Yes I edited it, because I could've done better looking at the other battles. And I apparently had time.))

Shynx walked into the arena, under the announcer's announcement of:
"Our second competitor is a trainer from Cerulean City in the Kanto region... "ShYnx" Mathocon!
He wondered, "Did that sound cool enough?"
"He has collected victories over the Elite Four of the Kanto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh regions!"
"Damn, he might as well have said everywhere but Johto. Argh..."

Shaking his head, he concentrated on other matters.
Thinking about which good luck charm would be best for this battle, he finally settled upon his Dragon Slayer charm, and his Sneasel's pokeball as pendants.
They went well with the black sweatshirt and pants he had on, with the blue laced sneakers, and blue headband and wristbands. He also turned on his mp3 player, and put on Three Days Grace- Animal I have Become, what he thought might be a fitting song.

As he entered the battle arena, he was pleased at the turnout. He quickly scanned the crowd, and spotted the person he was looking for, dressed in pink and black, seated in the 3rd row.
"Hmm, nice seat," he thought.

Then he looked to his opponent. A huge, muscular man in his 50s, but somehow still in his prime. He was dressed in a large green overcoat and hat, that clashed horribly with the blue jeans, Shynx thought. He was looking around with the air of someone who had a lot of experience in tournament battles, and confidence in his abilities. "Good, he'll need it," thought Shynx as Gone Forever came on.

Thinking about the large man's nickname, he called out, "Let's do this!" and with that, got ready for what promised to be an amazing battle.

~Yeah, getting the right tense is hard. I kept switching from past and present, then had future at the end.~
~By your previous description, Hiker seemed best for you. I'll take it off if you don't like it.~

~ I don't mind, I couldn't find one even close myself. ~

Ivan quickly scanned the arena for any trainers he had fought previously, found a couple, and gave them a wink, seemingly to hint that his opponent would most likely befall the same fate as the others. Much of the crowd cheered after that little gesture.

He eyed his young opponent and spotted the mp3 player. "Hmm..." Ivan thought to himself, "I think I'll fight music with music." Ivan then pulled a boombox and threw in a Prodigy tape. ((OOC: Thats right, a tape! :P))

Ivan then pulled out a pokeball and tossed it high into the air releasing Dragonite in midair. Dragonite slowly floated down and landed with a thump. Ivan then shouted, "Dragonite, just move to the music, and this should be quick."

EDIT: ~ Sure did! :P and that's alright I couldn't get on RMXP most of yesterday... ~

"Hehe, Prodigy", thought Shynx.
"This ought to be fun..."
"Kingdra, Go!"

The dragon Pokemon, already used to making grand entrances, appeared to levitate for a minute as it came out of its Pokeball, then aimed its snout towards the ground, and sprayed a huge torrent of water, propelling itself even higher in the air. It then aimed skywards, and let out an even larger blast of water, now dousing the stadium with an impressive pool of water, until it was enough to wade in. This drew huge cheers from the crowd, which only added to Shynx's confidence. Again, there was really only one person he cared about in the audience, and there she was, watching him.

"Looks good, Kingdra, let's get ready to fight. You've taken on Dragonite before, you know what to do."

Looking upwards again, Kingdra let out a moan, and dark clouds began rolling in, and a light drizzle began. Within seconds, it had accelerated into a full blown storm, just as Sum 41- Over my Head came on, another fitting song. Shynx hoped to overwhelm his opponent, and fast.

"And with that, the floor is all yours," said a proud Shynx.

(Move Used: Rain Dance)
~STOLED MY IDEA
~MY MUSIC, lol.
Your boombox= Blowup, waterlogged, ruined, lol~

Ivan was confused. "Why destroy a perfectly nice boombox? Now where am I gonna find another one?"

Dragonite hovered above the water after the rain started pouring down and awaited it's trainers orders. "Alright Dragonite, this is perfect weather for us. You know what the first move is." Dragonite flew into the clouds and gathered an electrical charge, then stopped in midair and plunged into the water with blinding speed. Dragonite then released the electrical charge into the water hitting Kingdra a powerful Thunder Wave. Dragonite remained in the air for a few seconds before the water returned from whence it came.

Ivan snickered, "I'd like to see you maneuver now..." The announcer returned with, "Ooo...a blast from Thunder Wave, Kingdra could be paralyzed, who knows if this may have already decided this battle." Ivan thought, "Of course not you twit, a couple solid moves could take out Dragonite."

'Yeah, right, electricity against my Kingdra. Doesnt he know it's half dragon type as well?"
Shynx looked at his opponent. He struck him as an intelligent, if not headstrong man.
His desicion to use Thunder Wave was strange, seeing as Kingdra easily shrugged it off, the attack to no avail.

The water was still filled with an electric charge, so it was sparking and steaming. Shynx decide to use that to his advantage...

"Surf, Kingdra!"

The water suddenly began developing into a large wave, rolling towards the waiting Dragonite.

The rolling surf sped towards Dragonite and crashed down onto it, taking the full blunt of the attack. The attack definitely took its toll on Dragonite as it seemed to struggle a little to fly back up. "Your doing fine Dragonite, you've taken bigger hits before." Ivan coached to Dragonite, "Try Thunder Wave one more time Dragonite, it may be part dragon, but it can't shrug it off much more...but let's try a different approach this time..."

Dragonite dove under the water and almost literally flew through the water until she was within range of the foe. Dragonite then dove to the bottom of the ring and pushed off from the surface of the ground to gain speed, drove towards Kingdra charging up for Thunder Wave and readied itself for impact.

"Hmm...again?"
Shynx was puzzled, though he knew the large man's reasoning was partly correct. Kingdra really couldn't take two Thunder Waves with so little time in between to recover. As soon as Dragonite dove, Shynx knew something was up, and decided to take a chance.
"Kingdra! Use Dragon Dance! Make sure that Dragonite doesnt touch you. A close range Thunder Wave might be devastating."

Shynx knew when it came to speed on land and in the air, Dragonite was superior, but in the water? That was Kingdra's domain, and it was about to earn its name. There would be no way Dragonite could ever grab a hold of the slippery seahorse while it was in boosted status after a Dragon Dance.
Shynx waited to see what would happen next, as Kingdra began circling in the makeshift pool.

Ivan snickered at his opponent as he watched Dragonite narrowly miss Kingdra. "You're pretty good, the both of you," Ivan shouted to Shynx, then thought to himself, "but no one is ever ready for the next chapter..."

The announcer started, "Oh, it seems Dragonite can't match the foes speed, if this continues Ivan may be out luck...but wait, Dragonite hasn't stopped?" Dragonite burst from the water at breakneck pace until she reached the top of the clouds and finally stalled, the crowd looking frantically for her.

"Kingdra did a good job Shynx..." Ivan shouted to his opponent trying to unnerve him as Dragonite plummeted toward Kingdra at supersonic speed. "Nothing is faster than Dragonite's Giga Impact..." Ivan muttered as he waited only a few more seconds until impact.

"Hmm, things are getting interesting..." thought Shynx.
In it's already boosted Dragon Dance status, coupled with a speed boost while it was Raining, Kingdra's speed was become phenomenal.
Kingdra looked up at the hurtling Dragonite, and Shynx yelled "Use Surf! Try to bring up as much water as you can, to try to blanket out some of the power of the impact!"
Shynx watched as another huge wave rolled in, and Kingdar leaped into the middle of it. He only hoped it would be enough to dampen some of the blow.

(See? I could have just made Kingdra dodge again, but that would be unfair. You pulled out a move that I actually had to research, so I'll give you props. I'll leave your pkmn's actions up to you.)

Dragonite crashed down into the surf hitting Kingdra with terrible force, though the surf seemed to slow Dragonite down considerably. The aftershock of the blow created a giant wave soaking the audience and making a mist across the field as the makeshift pool filled back up via Rain Dance. This got the crowd going, amazingly, chanting for Shynx thanks to his Rain Dance.

Ivan could only wait as Dragonite would take a little to recover from the extremely powerful move, and trying to see through the water whether he knocked Kindra out or not. It was a tense moment, until the mist slowly began to clear...

(Sorry, I didn't mean to have the first Thunder Wave hit, I went too far. This is getting good, I'll await you to finish where I lead off. ;) )

"Kingdra! Now that it has to rest, end it with DragonBreath!"

Kingdra's snout suddenly began to seemingly glow, as a fiery aura enveloped it, and a flamethrower-like beam went streaking towards the exhausted Dragon.

"This has to end it; there's no way it can survive this," thought Shynx, as his mp3 player starting playing  Sr71- Goodbye, another very appropriate song for the doomed Dragonite.

(I don't feel like knocking out your pkmn)

"Dragonite, you can take another hit, just hang on," Ivan coached to his Dragonite. "Looks like Dragonite is still hanging on," said the announcer, though Dragonite was badly hurt and exhausted.

"Dragonite, you can keep going, use Roost!" Dragonite sank to the bottom of the pool and sat on the arena floor. It created a healing vortex underneath the water until it was back into fighting condition, then came back to the surface and floated above the water.

"Looks like Dragonite just got a second wind," the announcer exclaimed. "This could be bad news for Shynx's Kingdra." Ivan just smirked at the crowd and awaited his opponents next move.

(Thanks, it can be knocked out later, what fun is a short battle?)

"Wow, it just won't quit..." thought Shynx.
"Sigh...Kingdra! Use Dragon Dance again!"

Kingdra began the ritual-like move again, as Shynx tried to ignore the fact that Dragonite had a healing move in its arsenal. "Hmm...that Dragonbreath should have ended the match...it was a dragon move versus a dragon pokemon...That Dragonite has more guts than I thought. If this is how his first pokemon is, imagine the rest of his team...?"

As Kingdra neared the end of its swirling dance, Shynx spotted something that shook him with fear. Kingdra wasn't doing the Dragon Dance as gracefully as before; its movements coming out jerky and erratic. "Oh no, that Thunder Wave got to it..."

Shynx knew that another Giga Impact would destroy Kingdra, and that Thunder Wave and Roost wouldn't be that useful now.

"Can't teach an old dog new tricks," said Shynx aloud. "Kingdra! Stay underwater and use the same strategy as last time; Use the water to blanket any blow he might throw at you!"

(Just to confirm:
Dragonite: Thunder Wave, Giga Impact, Roost, and ???
Kingdra: Rain Dance, Surf, DragonBreath, and Dragon Dance

Ivan was estatic that the Thunder Wave was starting to have an effect. "Dragonite, you've got this one in the bag, but just to be sure...Dragonite use Roost again!" In his head was another story, "You fool, you're getting too cocky again..." Ivan thought to himself.

Dragonite dove back under the water landing on the surface and created yet another healing vortex underneath the water restoring it to full health. Then flew back to the surface and floated centimeters above the water.

"Dragonite looks like it was never in a battle, can't say the same for the opponent though..." said the announcer, seemingly surprised about Dragonite's abilities. "It's your move Shynx, let's see what you can do."

(Ya, that's all correct. I hope I'm not seen as god-moding with the roost crap...)

(Like Wumpi said, I forgot DragonDance. And AWW...you healz again! n00b! lol, j/k)

"Aww man, it healed again...
This is getting to be annoying..." thought Shynx.

Looking up at a quickly clearing sky, then looking at his Kingdra, who had already exerted as much as it could against an opponent who simply healed away the damage, Shynx realized how frustrating this dilemma really was.
If he was to beat the Dragonite, he would have to do it fast. And that was just how he planned on doing it.
The first step was to recover Kingdra's speed boost; the Rain.
"Kingdra! Lets make it rain!"

As Kingdra looked up and summoned rain clouds again, Shynx's hopes and spirit began to look up, even through the gloomy atmosphere.

It was going to be gloomy all right, he thought, but not on this side of the arena.

Though Ivan thought of the rain as a refresher from the heat of the stadium earlier, he was really starting to get soaked... "I knew I should've brought my umbrella, some how I knew it was going to rain today, even without my signature Kyogre..." he thought to himself. "Ah well, now that Dragonite has rejuvinated itself as planned, we can continue to finish Shynx's Kingdra."

"Dragonite, it's time to end this battle, use your Giga Impact to finish this..." Dragonite looked at her trainer, nodded, and flew high into the air. Remembering the actions of the previous attack, the announcer blurted out, "Oh no, another Giga Impact from Dragonite, Shynx could definitely be in trouble if this hits!" Awaiting Dragonite's attack Ivan shouted to his opponent, "Your Kingdra fights well, but I doubt it can stand another hit, call it back now if you want to save it some pain..." Ivan was hoping this taunt would work on his opponent for fear that Kingdra's speed may be too great, despite the paralysis, there's a very large chance Giga Impact will miss...

Dragonite appeared from the clouds flapping it's wings wildly, driving itself through the air with great tenacity, focusing only on its opponent and the move at hand. Nearing it's opponent, Dragonite began to brace itself from the ferocity of the attack...

(Looks like you get to decide the outcome of this matchup ;D)

(Thank you very much)
Seeing the large man sopping wet brought up Shynx's attitude more, but not much.
Once he told his Dragonite to perform a second Giga Impact, Shynx slumped.

Quickly factoring in the logistics of the match, he realized that the following facts were true:

*Kingdra had 2 Dragon Dance effects stacked upon each other, which increased its Attack and Speed by 2 stages.
*Kingdra's Swift Swim ability, coupled with its Rain Dance, then doubled its speed.
*Kingdra had already turned the arena to its own advantage by flooding it.
*Kingdra could use the same strategy as last time, and try to absorb some of the Giga Impact's effect by diving underwater.
*Kingdra could also try to altogether dodge the Giga Impact.
*Kingdra was slightly paralyzed by the Thunder Wave, hampering its ability to dodge.

Shynx decide to take a risk, and yelled: "Kingdra! I know you can't take anymore, so try to dodge the Giga Impact!" Looking up at the intensely focused Dragonite, Shynx realized that the dodge would have to be timed perfectly.
Kingdra also seemed to realize this, as it returned the approaching Dragonite glare with one of its own. Kingdra began pacing, if that was the right word, in the water, apparently waiting for the opportune moment to slip out of the bullet's path.

"Its showtime! Kingdra! Make sure that thing doesn't even scrape you!"
Shynx hoped the paralysis wouldn't hinder it too much. As Dragonite began streaking down towards the makeshift pool, Shynx noticed a sort of glimmer in Kingdra's eyes, as if it knew something he didn't.
Then he saw it. The Dragonite's forward momentum was too great for it to be able to actually steer. Once it chose a target, it would slam into that one target, even if the foe wasn't there.

When Dragonite was close from the water, Kingdra tensed itself, then dove underwater at an astonishing speed, and streaked past the tail of the Dragonite, which had by then already submersed itself in the water up to its neck.

Shynx knew Kingdra was fast, but he knew it wasn't fast enough to turn around and counterattack the vulnerable Dragon, which had hit its head with tremendous force on the floor of the "pool."

He would have to launch his attack during the Dragonite's rest period, and with its attack boost, Shynx hoped Kingdra could finish the battle then.

(Nope, I'll give that privilege to you.)

(What? No re-gifting! lol)

Ivan couldn't do much except stare at the water and wait for Dragonite to return to the air. Finally he started to see the water moving until he noticed that it wasn't Dragonite. A giant wave of water backed by Kingdra had blown Dragonite out of the water, with Kingdra following. "Blast it, Dragonite missed!" Ivan thought, amazed at the sheer speed of the opposing Kingdra.

"Oh, Kingdra hit Dragonite with a powerful Surf! Could this be it folks?" exclaimed the announcer. Ivan continued to work up a plan, not noticing that Dragonite was heading right for him. He finally noticed until it was too late to get away with all the water around, so he stood his ground and got ready to catch Dragonite.

With a thud Ivan caught Dragonite, barely able to stand. "Holy cow, I never knew she weighed this much!" he thought to himself as he put Dragonite down. "What a fantastic catch by the trainer, that had to have taken some strength to pull off!" the announcer said, amazed he could catch such weight. "But it looks like Dragonite isn't able to battle, Surf was a critical hit, Kingdra wins."

"Ah well, you did great Dragonite, return." Ivan said as he prepared to bring out his next pokemon. "Go Empoleon, you're up next" The pokeball spun in midair for a couple seconds until it hit the water and released the Empoleon.

(Ok, you're move, oh and by the way, we're standing on platforms if you don't mind.)
