In times like these, it's easy to be caught up in negativity and start feeling depressed. A lot of things are wrong in this world, and it's hard to remember that there's a whole lot of good things in our lives, even if we don't realize it. So let's take this opportunity to share at least one reason we are happy to be alive, today.
This is Canada Day weekend and, coincidentally, my first week of summer vacation. I'm working very long shifts on one of the busiest grocery-weekends on the year. It's hard work and I'm always incredibly tired by the end of the day. Sometimes it's very easy for me to wish I never had to go back to work again.
But I often forget that I'm 18, and in a place where the recession has hit very hard, have a job. Many of my friends are desperately searching for employment, as well as hundreds of other people where I live that would gladly take my job. I'm making only minimum wage but it's a paycheck nonetheless, and I should be grateful for being employed.
What's one thing you're happy about today?
