Either make the diagonal hatch thicker, like the other lines, or a solid color! Those tiny little lines make people want to scrape out their eyeballs trying to focus.
Not to mention, you'd lose all the detail, shrinking it down.
Shape's cute, though. Maybe a little too much detail--it might be too blended-together when you shrink it.
First thing about a logo is simplicity or complexity. But either way you want your logo to be remembered. Silhouettes in this case is very important.
Second is eye-catching design. You want the people to focus on either the design, the name, or the image. Thirdly... resizeability, basically what Venetia said. It should still look good when shrunken down to 1:10 or such.
