I need feedback for a RMVX game I'm making.

Story:
The monster were all rounded up and thrown into a portal, named the portal of darkness. The sealing was supposed to make it impossible to them to get out. Then, the sealing didn't go as planned. Hell breaks loose. The seal that kept the world happy has broken. Your parents are killed by the monsters released from the portal. You must hunt down how to close the portal and take revenge. Your quest includes a job-less mercenary, a oasis princess, and a fire queen.

Features:
- 2-3 hours (i think) of gameplay, on hard.
- A looting house (a house that you search for loot)
- 3 difficulties (more may be added later)
- A couple of training areas. On harder levels you may need to power level here.

@teengamer, can you please go more indepth with the storyline, why exactly does hell brake loose, what made the monsters kill your parents, did they get in the way, or were they getting intimate and the monsters burst in screaming and killed them ?

Backstories about your characters could be nice, why is the mercenary jobless ? Was he fired from his last job for killing someone he shouldn't, or is he just lazy and can't be arsed to find a job ?

And yeah, as Dadevster has said, lets get some screenshots ! :thumb:

I'll get some new screenshots and put them up in a sec. There's older ones on the site. That's for the ideas, I'll probably use them... with your name in the credits...

Please don't get offended but is this a game you believe is fairly complete, a parody, or an early prototype? I think you should try to answer teengamer's questions before you go into making more areas or details for the game as you may very well rework it all and you don't want to get stuck with the design choices made so far. However, prototypes focusing on the key plot points are fine if you are ready to later discard them.

This game is still very early. I'm hoping it will include like 20+ hours of gameplay, plus bonus stuff, including badges, such as "Lost Journal" which involves you never looking at your journal, "The Oasis is dead" which involves you letting the oasis princess die, "Hard as a rock" which involves you beating the game on hard, etc.

Sorry, in my earlier post, I meant to say that you should answer jbrist's questions, not that you should answer your own. You have not done so properly yet. I think you have a decent very early prototype that you can work on iteratively. The game still needs a lot of work to be an interesting one and making it longer should be your least concern for now (but of course, adding quality will also increase the length). Unless it is a parody, your mapping (the world map is overall decent though) and the story needs work.

For instance, the hero's motivations appear questionable. Why did he set out to avenge his parents suddenly and why at such an old age? Why risk your life to revenge parents you never knew and who were killed for reasons unknown to you and you're not even sure who and if there is a perpetrator? If anything, the hero would like to know more or prevent that similar things happen to others. For the latter, the hero is more likely to stop such problems in general than to seek the particular individual who committed the act to him, e.g. they might not even be doing it anymore. That he's out seeking information certainly makes for a good story. The hero is then not intent on doing anything with the perpetrators but those intentions may change as the story progresses and the hero changes.
