Sex sales in almost every type of business in society. We know porn companies make a lot of money. However, there are some people who believe porn should be illegal. Do you agree with this opinion?

I must admit I watch porn. I only watch the story fantasy type porn. I try to avoid anything out of the line. Some movie a guy was fucking this chick with a bottle. In my opinion that is crossing the line. Do you think porn crosses the line(not just what I saw with that bottle)?

Some of you may know about porn companies asking for bailouts. It is known that porn companies who only make DVDs are making less sales than they made in the past. I don't think they should be given bailouts. These companies have not adjusted their business to today's porn age. Today most people buy porn online because it is cheaper and can get a lot of porn. I will use myself for an example. I pay 10 bucks a month for about 8 scenes a week which will be 32 scenes a month in SD quality for online porn. However, if I wanted to go to the porno store for a 10 dollar movie then I would get about 4 to 8 scenes. Do you think porn companies should be given bailouts? Do you think these companies should change their business to online porn?

also entertainment is a fairly recession-proof industry. I think their obsolete business model is more to blame than the economic crisis.

pretending for a second that the recession is to blame, though, porn is far from an essential industry. the purpose of the bailouts is to support companies which are "too big to fail" -- companies which would greatly impact the country's economic scene if they were to crumble. I doubt very much that there is a porn company equivalent in importance to General Motors.

as far as the morality of it goes, as long as they're willing to do it, who cares? it's not as if porn actors are slaves. some stuff out there is quite gross, but personally, Nicholas Cage movies bother me more than those do.

Porn is porn. I personally could suggest more productive ways of contributing to society, but who am I to judge an individual I don't know? I don't really have too much of a liberal attitude towards porn, and some stuff can be absolutely nuts but it shouldn't be made illegal either. People should be free to make their own consensual decisions, for good or ill.

doing shit with bottles and other phallic objects isn't really "crossing the line". not MY line in any case ... (unless the bottle's broken). it's not even an extreme fetish. shit like vore is an extreme fetish.

in any case it's up to the eye of the beholder to deem what is "the line" and what is not. why would i let someone else establish "a line" for me based on their beliefs or "moral etiquette"? couldn't i just not look at the things that cross my particular "line"?

until the government sits me down and FORCES me to watch something I don't want to see, then all i can assume is that people are capable of CHANGING THE CHANNEL or NAVIGATING AWAY FROM THE OFFENDING PAGE.

I did not contradict myself. In my opinion there are many things that cross the line. There are some movies with people bleeding, eating shit, and getting pissed on.

Hardcore porn is porn that people are having sex, and you see everything. That does not mean it will get extreme. There are fantasy hardcore porn.

And that's exactly what porn is about.. peoples opinions and desires. Now, your desires and fetishes may not be as hardcore and extreme as others, but that is no argument for a 'line' that's being crossed. In most of the cases the actors and actresses signed up for the job, so they are willing to do it. In my opinion there is a lot of gross shit out there too, but if other people enjoy it, I'd rather freak out at those people than at the business who tries to make money out of it.

Of course, there are things that cross the line, but that's more about violation of rights, abuse in the scene, and other terrible things, like snuff movies, and necrophilicy (is that a word?)

Frankly sex with a bottle is a lot cleaner, safer, and fullfilling than sex with a penis so I don't see why that particular instance is worse than any other porn.

I have no problem with porn. If the people want to do it they should be more than welcome to. If there is a demand, which does not hurt anyone, and supplying that demand doesn't hurt anyone, then supply said demand.

Forced porn? Sure, that should be stopped. But the fact it's porn doesn't mean anything - forced labour in general should be stopped which is a completely different discussion altogether.

I will say that some porn is disgusting, from a subjective point of view. A cat in a woman's vagina scratching away for example (to which the RSPCA would have something to say about), vore, furry porn, bestiality, hardcore BDSM, etc. But saying things such as bottle sex, anal sex, gay sex, or any other kind of sex which does not actually cause harm is disgusting is just moot.

And RKO, nobody in this topic has been flaming and pinning "THIS FORUM IS X" on the actions of one or two members is a really lame thing to do. If you have a problem with how a mod/gmod/admin has handled a situation feel free to PM another mod/gmod/admin and they will be happy to look into it, but frankly there is no flaming here. This is the symposium and people are entitled to opinions even if they don't match those of yourself.
